Yeah, I got a confirmation on it but haven't heard anything else regarding number of teams, etc. It is a Friday/Saturday contest which is nice and a short drive from Long Island.

I must have skimmed over it. Thanks! I added the location and dates to the title.

I'd love to come out and help but we have a wedding to go to on that weekend. We were thinking about cooking at the Taste of Grand Rapids in Michigan but can't do that, either.

Smoke, what kind of confirmation did you get? I got a letter which was more of a receipt a few weeks ago but nothing after that.

I was going but I have surgery scheduled for the 25th. I got some nasty mole things on me that came back from the lab not so good. I may try to make the rounds on Sat.

Sorry to hear about the surgery. I could use a hand with turn-ins if all goes well and you want to come by Saturday. We can be SmokeNdaEyes.

FYI, they mailed out cooks packets with all necessary info yesterday. There's room for 35 teams. 31 paid so far with 4 more that are pending/awaiting payment. Should be fun.

Really? I've still gotten nothing. Anything of interest in there? I guess all I reall need is an address and an arrival time. Will let the GPS do the rest.

Couple of things:

Awards Information form
Map of Grounds
Updated Rules - alcohol is OK now
Team List
Waver of Liability
Certification of Non-Sexual Predator form  (seriously)

Its a big manilla envelope. If you don't get anything in the next couple of days PM me your email & I'd be happy to scan you these.

They are allowing teams to vend, though not sure how many actually will. I'm flying solo so opted not to. Looking forward to meeting some new folks Friday! Should be there by 1pm or so.

What the hell did I do? Lo & Slo came within inches of GC, Fat Angel won brisket, RibsWithin did whatever they do, and so on... I was just pleased to finally do another KCBS contest and not embarass myself.

As long as it's not the same weekend as Harpoon next year, I would suggest everyone come down to Monmouth County and support a contest with real potential (just hide your beer well and don't ask cops for directions!)...

RUB IT - SMOKE IT - PULL IT!
While entertaining a visit from the county Mounties, one asked what I do for a living.

I replied: “I’m a butthole streacher.”

He was curious as to what that was.

I explained: First you stick one finger in the butthole, then you stick one from the other hand and pull apart until you can fit the second finger in. Then you keep stretching until you can get both hands in. Then you keep stretching to 12 inches, and stretching to 3 feet, and stretching until you have a 6 foot opening.

Officer: “Then what in the world do you do with a 6 foot butthole.”

Me: “You bring it to a cooking competition to give out fines to the cooks for drinking beer!”

Did any team member actually get a ticket? Could you drink openly if it was in a cup?
