I was judging at Tonganoxie, Kansas today and I was explaining to one of the new folks how the scoring system works.

They said "So if you're Grand Champion in a contest, that means you REALLY kicked butt!" I said "Absolutely!"

Way to kick butt!

Thanks guys we are very excited and don't know what to do with ourselves. Several frends have helped us just to get to the show not to mention came down to support us. Our aprons arived one hour before we left to the event, Our printer decided he wanted us all to match so he donated hats and aprons.

Man this is such a buzz!! If there were any doubts about the pro 20 XL let me tell you this mother sings like no other! This was the first time we ever set eyes on one and the learning curve was some where close to zero!

Thanks brothers and sisters.

I managed to get some sleep last night after a good drink but after we unpack I suspect we will be in the bottle again. Last night we brought leftovers and shared them at our local with friends.

A few more pictures.

I'm bringing some better rib skills to the next event and more detail work on my boxes. The brisket was beautiful but I didn't trim it well enough to fit the box correctly. I suspect we did well with scoring using Big Mistas video as a training tool but the presentation may have let us down.

I take full responsibility for that.

Front row L to R - My son, wife (Rib girl). ME, my daughter.
Back- Mark and Cliff, my son's friend Mark.

The kids worked over the boxes, made runs for fresh water, ran the food to the judges and even pulled the pork!! I love that they were involved. We only just got the desert in on time, it was originally due in at 3:30 but was changed to 3:00 at the meeting.
