A 22.5 Weber that is.
After searching high and low and almost spending a grip fpr a new one I found a slightly used one that was listed wrong on ebay. It's not in bad shape and I only had to fork out 40 quid with it shipped. I know it's not sounding like a deal but the One touch goes for £137.00 on eBay, Thats 271.43 US dollars!
Now to figure out how to het the lid to fit my UDS as it's a bit small.

Dr KY,
The way I got a used weber dome to fit my open-end drum without cutting the roll off of the top of my drum was with a hammer. I put the dome lid on a concrete sidewalk and pounded the L-shaped lip until it was flat. Then I put it on the top of my drum and pounded and shaped it to the roll on top of the drum. It works and while I don't have a air-tight fit it is good enough to control my temperatures.
I think if you cut off the top roll of a drum that the dome lid will fit that way too. Good luck.

I didn't want to cut my drum as it seals very well with the original lid and I only want the Weber to fit if I'm cooking a large amount of grub or a beer can chicken. The other thing is with the weather here I think the weber lid would come off in the heavy winds or leak rain water. My drum lives outside for the most part.
I remember someone talking about making a sleve from a drum once?

I think they made a "sleve" (2" or so) out of the top of the weber base and then put it inside the drum and stuck it up enough to have a good seal with the original lid and original base. I'm looking to find some kind of clamp like on metal tool boxes to put at the lid so it clamps down.

I love my Weber kettle, and use it almost every week. Instead of beer can, give spatchcocking a try. The kettle does something special with this method! Congrats!

Congrats on the Weber. Those things are crazy expensive in Europe. One of my friends was an expat in the US and when he went back to Germany, he shipped back *three* Weber performers ($299/ea in the US).

I remember someone said they welded a band (maybe the ring from the drum lid?) around the inside of the drum for the Weber lid to sit on.

KY-If Webers are that expensive and hard to come by I'd keep it as is, you don't know how nice it's gonna be with that in you arsenal.

I gotta get on my drum project soon. I'm looking for a cheap 22.5 for UDS parts at the moment.

Believe me I won't be cutting into this sucker.lol In fact it may live in the house.
I just assumed the lid would fit straight over to the UDS for some reason.

The Weber lid will fit on most of the closed drums that I've cut into, but not on any of the open drums with lids, they kind of straddle the rolled lip, and not very securely, which is why I've cut up the kettle bottoms to act as a flange for the lid, even then some of those need to be built up with Permatex gasket or bolted to the drum as none seem to be the same diameter.
