I know this might sound just slightly crazy but do you think it would be possible to put together an All State California Bash.

I believe with everyone's schedule if couldn't be done this year, but what if we got a couple of brothers as a "committee" and put together something for next Spring.

Yes, a year off. That would give everyone a chance to actually plan. Sort of like a convention. Something before the comps start. Not a backyard comp. Just a weekend of cooking, eating and everything that goes along with it.

The California Brethren Division is getting bigger and better and we need to show our strength.

Is there anyone that doesn't think this is a totally wacked idea? I'm sure if we put together a huge bash some of our other out of state Brothers would fly in.

I've got some ideas for location already. I really want this to happen.

Okay! What say you?

What about doing this in conjunction with the Clovis contest?
Many of us will be in central Calif then
Sat Night after the contest nice time to talk to the Brothers

Not what I had in mind. That wouldn't be a Bash. Bash requires more time than one evening. I understand how important Comps are to many, but for even more they aren't that important. To have "non comp" Brothers drive to Clovis for a little visit isn't realistic.

I'd be in! Are you thinking of a location towards the middle of the state? I agree it should be it's own Bash, not part of some other comp.

Middle of the state, near a lake, where we could rent a house and have a Bash.

I'm in! Definitely not during a comp. I'm too wicked tired. Middle of the state sounds perfect! I'm already here.

I'll help with planning.

Where?

Don't know yet. I've done a little research but before I got to far in I wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting my time.

There are lots of possibilities. I know we aren't going to please everyone, but I think we can come up with good ideas that will make this the best Bash ever.

If you've got ideas, PM me. I don't want to debate everything on the thread because that won't be constructive. But if you have ideas I'll but a list together and post it to the thread.

Okay?

I like it! Where is the middle of the state? Castaic? Ventura? Canyon Country? Gulp...Bakersfield?

The geographic center of the state of California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California) is located between North Fork and Italian Bar. The point is about 7.1 miles driving distance from the United States Forest Service (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Forest_Service) office in North Fork.

North Fork is not to far from me and there is a lake nearby that has cabins (Bass Lake).

Of course, like Larry said, let's PM him with suggestions and we can go from there.:-D

I think this is a great idea but I dont know if I could seriously pull this off unless I swung a family vacation or something along with it to justify the costs. Obviously travel expenses will be quite a bit more excessive with the rising fuel costs as well as meals and lodging. The other thing is we'd have people coming from different parts of the state which would require a good chunk of driving time to travel to and from leaving maybe one day or so to hang out. Lets work on this and see if there is a good way to do it. I like the Bass lake idea, or maybe even something over on the 395 side.
