Can't believe that no one is talking about this one. Four Q will be there what other brethren will be stepping up to the plate to help the Kids?

A BBQ competition for the benefit of Wishland Chidren's Charity. Teams may also vend "People's Choice" samples of their Q to the public.

Tropical Heat BBQ will be there. Next Friday can't get here soon enough, chomping at bit for first comp of the year. We were at this location for the QN4U class, very nice venue.
Though 1.5 hours away, looks like will be closest comp to home this year.

See you all there.

Wow!

This was a great event from start to finish! If you have an opportunity to compete at Wishland next year, I suggest you jump on it. It was a well-run, cooker friendly event.

The pot luck was amazing! I'm still a little upset that I didn't get to taste the venison shepherd's pie but the Seared Ahi Tuna, Paella, Cedar Plank Salmon, Pasta, Chilequiles(sp), and chinese chicken salad were all great! Special Thanks to Ben Lobenstein for bringing fresh sourdough bread for the Bagna Cauda (garlic dip). There were so many desserts that I thought I was going to go into a sugar coma. Well done and thank you to all who participated. The pot luck gets better at every contest!

Another thanks goes out to Joe Golden, who not only provided power cords but set up a projector at midnight and showed movies on the side of a tent. I hope this becomes a tradition for the folks who stay up late with their cookers.

We had so much fun with the People's choice. Not just the interaction with the crowd but the banter with our neighbors. Gary Notley and Brian in SoCal, I really enjoyed you guys.

Lots of Brethren had walks. Here are the few I remember of the top of my head:

RGC - Tropical Heat (Bowtie Bill)

People's Choice - Four Q (Bigmista, Sylvie, Professor Salt, BBQ Junkie)

1st Ribs - Thom Emery
2nd Ribs - Country HB

1st Brisket - Bentley
2nd Brisket - gstanle

For those who don't know, several of us had a side bet with Bentley. He said he would donate $25.00 to the Wishland Foundation for every person who beat him in brisket. In turn, if he beat us, we would donate the $25. Well Bentley beat us all and we made our donation. But on top of that. Bentley turned around and donated his prize winnings back to Wishland. What a great gesture! Kudos to you man!!!

Congrats to Larry Hill of BLQ Cutting Edge BBQ, he is not a Brethren but he is a fellow Pellethead! He did it solo guys, Emily his 10 year old daughter was there to help!

Bill and Dan of Tropical Heat, nice RGC, you will probably see these guys picking up the 1st of many GC sometime this year!

All the other Brethren who walked congrats!

Thom, you beating me in ribs, (chit so bad they were I dont even know where we placed, had to be worse than 13th) and me winning brisket, it must be snowing in Hell!

For the teams that bet me and lost...Pretty classy paying Wishland on the spot!

Congrats to Larry Hill for GC. And all that took a walk.
Gary and Brain had a least two walks that I remember, they are making a great team.
Congrats to Bentley on your Brisket! Once we heard our name called, (3rd), I was pulling for you to win, after all the smack people were posting. That was a big and well deserved call.
And now that Thom is starting to spend his time competing, I think we are all in trouble.
Thanks to Sylvie, BigMista, Prof. Salt, and Louis for being such gracious hosts of our Potluck. There was some good eatin' there. The Paella was awesome, Venison Shepards Pie, and That Garlic Dip and S.F Sourdough. And a table of nothing but desserts (including Kristins Homemade Pies). I am starting to get hungry again thinking about it.

Bill and Dan of Tropical Heat, nice RGC, you will probably see these guys picking up the 1st of many GC sometime this year!

Bent, FYI, we did have one GC already, last year. Though it was a small contest, it was against some stiff competition (Dan Canon, Todd Eaves, 4Q, Pit Stop, etc.). But this RGC means a lot, with a combo of 24 veterans and great newbies, and the always interesting IBCA rules.
Props out to the sponsors, Langers ( supplied free Apple Juice) and BBQ's Galore (Gift Certs. to winners). And Wishland for all the work in putting this on. Hopefully the owners of the Canyon RV Park enoyed us, so we can have it there again. Great facility.

Congrats to all! Well ran event and I still cannot get over getting 8th in brisket. First time I cooked brisket at a comp. Great flavor but drier than old chit!

Bent, will send money directly to Kelly. Congrats brother and thanks for bailing me out with the injector. Never leave a plastic injector in your utensil box, it will crack or better yet do not buy one.

Also, Country I owe you for staying up! Country and I were going to take shifts and sleep as we watched each others cookers; next thing you know I heard birds singing.

We can always count on some outstanding dishes at our Friday night potlucks, and it seems like the bar gets raised every time. I'm very proud that my team hosts these shindigs and all this great food gets brought to me. I feel like Caesar, or something.

At one contest last year, Big Brother Smoke smoked a ribeye roast. Now THAT was some good eatin!
