Wow, i just had one of the best meals i had for months !

Cooked some Shrimp, Filet Mignon and Camembert over wood fire on a cedar plank. You definately gotta try that !

Here we go :

Burned some Beech wood in the char griller for a nice bed of coals

Cut the Top off of a Camembert Cheese and topped it with some Pesto

Skewered some shrimps and made a quick marinade of teriyaki Sauce und Texas Grilling magic

Fire is nice, so i put the plank on and closed the lid to preheat the plank over the fire.

Wow!! That looks pretty danged good to me. I have access to alder planks I use for salmon, scallops and shrimp. I saw some hickory ones the other day, I need to buy some of those ..... should be great for finishing off pork and beef. I do make a planked brie .... In an earlier post (http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22490&highlight=planked+brie), Plowboy thought my toppings looked "funky" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v377/thirdeye2/Misc/103.gif

Guess I'll have to try the Camembert too. (what does it taste like??) I make my own pesto and have some in the freezer. I think I've talked myself into this.....Thanks Don Marco.

I do not have a problem with you sharing whatsoever, in fact i enjoy it. I would like your opening line to be a bit more personalized than the other boards so that it does not seem generated. The content can stay the same it the opening line. I get the feel from the intro that you are speaking to us then i go to another board and its an exact duplicate. I want to feel special:icon_blush:

I love cedar planking salmon. Instead of buying an expensive "cooking plank", I buy $1.45 dogear cedar fence boards from HD and whack them into four "meals".

I usually soak the plank to keep it from burning too fast, heat it on direct with the meat on it, then finish it indirect.

Never knew people planked cheese or used it for finishing red meat. Thanks for the tip!!!

We also grill shrimp--marinade with melted butter and chopped fresh garlic, grill over light direct heat, then squeeze fresh lime juice on them right before serving. Yum!

x2--the presentation looks awesome!!

"Funky"

Must have been a typo. I meant "chunky".
