How many fellow Brethrens are signed up for this contest? Look us up if you are and have a cold one with myself and the team. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys.

I want to, but don't know if I can still get in. Tried calling Kurweil this week, but no answer.

I know Bubba and Jeff will be there. I plan on going down on Friday evening to check it out. Hell, it's only like 10 miles from my house.

Last week in judging class he asked if any of us were interested in judging there, so I volunteered. He asked that I email him, so I did and he told me to expect another email with details. I assume that means I am, but I don't know for sure. And Bunny told us in class, just cause you volunteer, doesn't mean to show up if you don't hear back.

Unless I decide against it, I got a call from the Cass County commissioners office asking me to judge the contest. Looks like I may wait til Saturday to swing down that way.

They found out about my pork scores lately :icon_blush: and said they didn't need me - won't be there now. :-D

Chris contacted me and I will be judging down there. I'll probably show up a bit early and walk around to see/meet some of you guys.

Jeff, clean some messages out - and let me know if you are judging.

Oops! Didn't see this before I replied to your PM. Sorry! You must have been one of the seven they needed as of this morning. See you there.

Just got back from Harrisonville. Judging was pretty good this time... no one made a big deal about collecting BBQ to take home and lots of crackers and water were consumed. We had some decent stuff and a lot of average stuff and two samples of chicken that I couldn't hardly eat. BAD!!! Me and Vern judged together. Bobby was at another table.

Congrats to Clubjoe (Randy) who's team R Butts R Smokin took reserve less than a point away from grand! Also to Bubba and Jeff who finished 4th but only like 1.15 points out of grand as well! Good showing from the Brethren today!

Good job everyone. Nice to meet ya Jeff, Bubba and Jeff. Was gonna say bye, but didn't want to interupt the conversation.

Most of our turn-ins were average (at least I thought). I gave a lot of 7's and 8's thoughout the day. For the good, I had some very good ribs. For the bad I had some brisket that was probably taken off too soon, a few hours too soon.

Also had a dessert that I had to wait an hour before driving home. Could taste the booze - yeah, I ate my whole piece.

Hey Bobby, I don't think we told ya... we had brisket steak for one of our entries! Farkin thing was at LEAST an inch thick! And the sad part was that it wasn't overcooked, which was immediately my reaction when they showed it for appearance score. If they'd sliced it the width of a pencil as is the standard, I imagine it would have been really perfect. But the thick chunky slice made it tougher to chew so it lost points. I had three desserts... all at Bubba and Jeff's camp after the judging! Thanks guys!

All gotta say is when you sit next to Jeff judging your first contest, Don't watch him eat the beans. Lets just say he was on the verge of licking the cup clean b4 he made any attempts at scoring it. It was all I good do to keep from laughing my arse off.
