Beerwolf, scottyj13 and jtfisher63 and I have kicked around the idea of having a Nor Cal Bash. The CBBQA is holding a get together in October, but we still want to have an official Brethren Bash.

So if you consider yourselves Nor Cal (we'd love to have some of our bash experts from So Cal join in), please give us some ideas.

I'll let Beerwolf add his idea...

Start by making it a mans club!. Set a date and they will come. Open invite to pork and Jello toting, how do you all sat it "Southerners"! Plan it so people don't have to drive once the tops are popped. Low key, people bring/make what they do best. Worked for us.

Im still Lobbying for the Local KOA complete with pool, hall, mini golf and frisbee golf. Its in the wine country up here about 30 minutes north of Santa Rosa off of HWY 101

My ulterior motive here is to get some of our city people invited and get them interrested in hosting a regular competition.

I like this idea. Even as a non-drinker (yeah, I know...) this would be a great area and opportunity to showcase bbq and the Brethren.

Someday we could be holding the 25th Annual Cloverdale/BBQ Brethren Cook-off.

Lets work up some numbers of those planning on attending and Ill get with KOA and see who else I can shake out...maybe some "sponsored" wine or micro as well.

There is a street celebration ( cars bikes) on sept 8 and 9 there should be something later that month as well but I cant remember what it is and I dont see it on any online calenders. None the less, there is plenty to do here... when Im not working my arse off.

Later in the month of September or any time October works for me. I'm on a previously planned vacation Sept 1 - 10.

Need to check when the CBBQA event is. Sometime in October, we don't want to interfer with that.

I would be good with going to the wine country location. September 28-30 is the competition in Clovis so that date is out for me. The CBBQA Q Fest is October 12-13 so that date is also out for me. Other than those days I should probably be able to work it out. Oh, and I think I'll sit out on any naked twister games!!!

Bash-cast will be a must, for sure.

Any So Cal brothers or Oregon brothers want to make the trip up. The more the merrier.

I e mailed KOA, to inquire about spots. Im assuming RV sites? there is a hall availiable, do we want to que in front of the hall or at the campsites?

I think for your purposes, impressing community leaders, having everyone together might be the best bet.

What about the micro brewery? Are yo still going to check on their parking lot?

TRP,

The nor-cal bash sounds great! I do not know if I can make it in the Fall. I coach HS football, so my weekends are pretty busy. Keep me posted though and if I can sneak away, I'd surely love to join you guys.

Maybe you could sneak over on Saturday for a little while. I'm sure in October on Friday nights you are occupied.

GO THUNDER!

I got a reply from KOA already....

Hello Tom - As you know October is a perfect time to be in the wine country and it would be great to have you and guests camping with us for your "think tank" bbq operation. As your plans firm up please get in touch with me and we will spoil you. Thanks for thinking of the Cloverdale Wine Country Koa - Pamela

Ill see about the brewery ... weve got one or three around here

I went to the KOA website and it looks awesome! Is this going to be a family friendly bash? It sure looks like it would be a great place for families.

I will do some checking to see if Oct 26-27 will work. So far it looks like it will.

Hmmm...I'm up for just about anything! For the next two weeks however, I'll be checking BBQ-Brethren from the beaches of Maui...don't worry all, the view isn't that great:wink:.

Depending on the location and date of this event I might be able to make it. I might have a camping trip already planned for Oct, I have to check on that.

KOA camp sites are nice. Another possible location for a future bash could be at Tower Park in Lodi, my In-Laws have a house (double wide trailer) with a huge (for the bay area) grass yard in Tower Park and there is always the nice KOA camp sites for extra space.

Thanks for the PM trp1fox!
