When using any driving directions or map, it's a good idea to do a reality check and make sure the road still exists, watch out for construction, and follow all traffic safety precautions. This is only to be used as an aid in planning.

Hey Ted I was told by Vito last night you can bring your trailer as long is it fits on your space. The no Camper rule is for having a camper or RV seperate from your cooking site. There is limited parking and they don't want to fill the parking area with RV's. So I guess I'll see you in Maine right ?

Q Haven
07-10-2007, 09:31 AM
I heard that....it looks like we will be there.

Q Haven

But for the record: This below is from the Maine cook's packet. I seriously hope Vito double checks this with the organizers because I do not want to get up there and be turned around at the gate. Sounds like they really don't want campers....no mention of saving parking lots either.

campers and trailers:
NO CAMPERS OR TRAILERS ALLOWED, DUE TO LACK OF DISPOSAL FACILITIES. Campsites are available around the event location at other campgrounds. Contact us for more information.

no camping trailers or motor homes allowed:
Camping trailers and motor homes are not allowed on the festival grounds
or in the parking lot. Registered competitors will receive a packet containing helpful area information, including a list of local hotels and campgrounds.

How are people dealing with lobsters for Sunday? Is a live lobster in a cooler going to be ok for 36 hours?

YankeeBBQ
07-31-2007, 02:48 PM
I would plan on buying them locally. Maybe we could have a designated lobster picker upper ? I'd be willing to go in with other teams and preorder one day this week. I called a local place in York today and they are 5.99 for chicks, 6.99 for pound and a quaters and 7.99 for anything over 1 1/2 pounds. These are softshell prices.

Softshell means they scream less or more?

I'm in for that plan, just let me know when you need the order by.

Soft shell means that they just molted... more shell, soft and fluid,, alot less lobster meat... some people like them that way cuz you can eat them with your hands, the best are hard shell, alot more work to eat but jammed packed with lobster meat and a joy to eat!

Yours in BBQ,

Fun weekend, congratulations to everyone. We had a great time with the abridged version of our team there; although I now realize that someone on my team must be doing a lot of dishwashing... because I certainly never did as much as I did this weekend. (oops).

Michelle-- we were right next to the megateam, but didn't get invited in. I think it was because the team is determined by the number of people who can fit in a 10x20 team site... and its all full. Sean I think is in charge of any entries invoving M&M's (I think Kathy deserves a round of beers for keeping it professional when she DQ'd a box of banana peels, wheat thins, and M&M's that was turned in the for the lobster category)

Hey Brendan, We would have included you but you put the sides on your EZ-Up and either couldn't hear us or were pretending not to. You forgot to mention the most important ingredient: shredded brisket fat disguised to look somewhat similar to lobster meat marinated in some kind of brown sauce.
The Transformers and Lunchmeat are more than welcome to join Mega-Team. Mega-Team knows no bounds and has no regard for site sizing rules. If you don't join willingly, you will be absorbed eventually anyway. Soon, all will be Mega-Team. All contestants, all awards, all GC's and RGC's will be Mega-Team. Those who resist will submit to Mega-Team and your families will be forced to wear Mega-Team embroidered fashions and matching accessories.
Mega-Team exists for two reasons:
1) To finally beat the guys that usually win
2) To stop the Anchormen from ever winning
That's right, the Anchormen will forever be our sworn arch-nemesis until we get our free bag of ice from last years Rhode Island contest.
Our battle plan has been well planned and has already entered the first stages of execution:
Stage 1: Disrupt the nations supply of FAB
Stage 2: Drink beer
Stage 3: Make lots of jokes about wife swapping
Stage 4: Teach Ted to not dance like a white boy from Connecticut

So start practicing the Mega-Team chant if you want to join:
