I was in the grocery store the other day picking up some fried chicken (I know. Sounds weird but Albertson's Fried Chicken is really good. There is usually a line for it.) and I passed by the meat section. In one of the bins there was a sign that said "Santa Maria Ribs, $1.99/#".

I was a little curious because I had never heard of a Santa Maria rib. Turns out it was a St. Louis cut rib with all of the pieces that were cut off in the cryo with the rack of ribs.

The funy part is that they where more expensive than the uncut spares.

How's that for marketing?

Pretty normal. You're just paying them to trim the spares for you.

Yoiu know there are some people out there buying those thinking, they just got a special type of rib. How much were the spares running?

And coming soon, the "Nina" and "Pinta" ribs to round out the trio?

The Mayflower Ribs were the ones that were brown in the cryovac.

Ohhhhhh.........Albertson's fried chicken!!!!

I love the chicken form there! That was a staple in my home growing up....not much compares to it here in Jersey. Well.... except Hubby's chicken.
(Nope . That's a lie!) Have a piece for me Big Mista!!!

I have enjoyed Albertson's fried chicken, cole slaw and beans while on out of town in training. Placed in the fridge after you have eaten your fill and it tastes good the next day as well. Eat it cold with plenty of Tabasco...

It sure beats cooking when you get tired of eating out.

We used to have Albertson's here until they decided they were going to pull out of any market they were not number 1 in. Left alot of bad taste in many mouth's around here. At any rate they did have some pretty good fried chicken.
Isn't it funny how a spare rib thread turns into a fried chicken thread???

Yeah I've seen them at Albertsons before with all the damn pieces in the bag. I think they called them Santa Barbara style, not Santa Maria, but you saw yours across town.
