That's the weekend before Sedalia. I don't do two weeks in a row anymore. I'm too old.

Thank you. Their application asks for special location requests. I'm going to email them back asking for that. The water pan works awhole lot better near level.

Exactly. Take a level with you, I started carrying one after that contest. We had to fold up foil and put it under the legs to level it out.

My understanding is that we'll get our spots when we get there. I requested a level spot, so we'll have to see. Bring your tarps and get some bails of straw - forecasted to rain starting Wednesday.

I think I may come out Friday night. Anyone need anything? I think my crap is dry finally! I still have tables in the back of my truck from the GAB if anyone needs any, EZ-Up, coolers, etc. Let me know, always trying to help a brother. Rent is figured in multiples of 6!

Who did you talk to? I just emailed up there and they said I'd get it Friday. Talk about getting bent over without even the courtesy of a reach around - I got farked over hard there.

I wouldn't e-mail I would call. Tell them you want to know and they should tell you. the spots are already chosen so you just got a lazy farker that responded to you.

1 Four Men and a Pig - 647.4282
2 Great Grills O'Fire
3 Pig Newton
4 BBQweiser
5 Last Supper
6 Bubba and Jeff
7 Ornery Brothers
8 The Smoking Hills
9 Wild Blue
10 Kranky Kookers

We stunk it up.
Chicken - 49th - 145.7140
Ribs - 39th - 145.1428
Pork - 18th - 154.8570
Brisket - 25th - 150.8568
Total - 30th - 596.5706

And to add to the bad results, they didn't even have our sheet of individual scores. Somehow our sheet got lost, got stuck between car seats or didn't get printed out. So I have to wait until at least Tuesday to see what went wrong.

Good to meet some of you, I hope I didn't say or do anything too stupid Friday night when I started my field trip at about 1:00 am.

Hey Bobby, sorry I didn't get to meet you Friday evening.

As for you stinking it up, you aren't that far off! Just keep learning new things at every contest, perfect your techniques and put together a system that easily works for you. It's not about learning to cook. It's about learning how to compete. You guys will get there soon! We shoot for a score of 160 in each category. That will put you at 640 and usually in the top ten at most contests. Where are you cooking next?

Thanks, but I know my chicken needs help ... recipe help. At the Speedway I tried a recipe that was basically a margarita chicken - I didn't like it. So for this one I made an apple/maple chicken. I love it, but I don't think the judges did execept one that gave me a 33.7142. Probably too exodic for a comp. Of course without seeing the individual judge scores ... it's possible that I left a toothpick in  - or is that an automatic DQ?

Next comp will be a basic chicken and I'll go from there.

I got my pork going in the right direction. Went from 20 points from getting a call a the last comp to about 5 points. :eusa_clap

I really wish I had the individual judge scores

Shoot as poorly as we did I don't think I even deserve to show my face next year. I thought our ribs would score really high and they got 45th out of 66th  . Im usually a pretty hard critic, of myself especially and I thought they were the best ribs we have ever cooked as a team hands down but boy the judges sure hated em. But congrats to Mark and Becky and Bubba and Jeff.

Congrats to Mark G. and Mark and Becky. You were gone so fast we didnt get a chance to congrat you. After the beating we took at Raytown we are going to hang up our bbq brush for a while. Cooked the best chicken and ribs we have all year. Rv had problems on the way home and needs some work. Got to have my knee replaced ASAP. Takes a lot out of a person to cook well and have the judges kick you in the nads. I guess 15th overall is respectable but not for me. Im my worst critic. If its not up to par I am the first to say so. Takes a special person be able to handle the highs and lows of competition. The only thing that makes it worth while is the people you meet and the friendships you make.

Thanks, I had a feeling you would have it. What was 2nd place pork? I seem to recall #1 was about 7 pts higher than #2.
