For those that live in or around Tuscaloosa, AL or maybe anyone who's eaten BBQ there, do you remember a BBQ place called "T N T Dynamite BBQ"? It is no longer in business (for family reasons).

Did anyone ever eat there and if so how was it?

Never did get to stop in and eat, Passed their sign almost every day headed to work with the intention of stoping when I had more time. Sorry I couldn't help. I have noticed that several of the best places closing. Fox Fire down 69 past shelton state closed and at the time they in IMO were the best. People don't seem to want to drive a little when major rest here close in got some 6 months frozen just waiting on them.

The former owner of the TNT now lives in Shreveport and works with my dad at the GM plant. He closed down because his family members (who he hired to help run the place) stole him blind. I'm suppose to be getting with him in the near future and do some bbq'ng with him. Dad said his bbq is wonderful. He's cooked for the plant here in Shreveport several times.

Smoky Bones closing half their stores and all of em eventually comes to mind. I don't know if folks in general knows a whole lots about BBQ. I'm watchin a guy up the road from me that has pdg stuff and he seems to be doing poorly judging by the cars in the parking lot. Maybe the KCBS contests and others can remedy this sitgeeation.

I was in college in Tuscaloosa from '74-78'. There was a place on 15th street called "Horn's BBQ".
Was a great place for BBQ chicken. We used to go by on Sunday afternoon and buy a whole chicken and eat it right there! People were real nice to students.
Some real good memories at that place.

BBQ joints around here do not last long either. Especially the ones that dump a lot of money into the overhead such as fancy neon signs that are 100ft tall, huge parking lots etc. Though I'm not a restaraunt owner I would think (with bbq) it is best to start out small and build up rather than going all out not even knowing if people in that area are even going to like your Q.

Horne's to me had gotten way to inconsitant. I'd go in one day and the food would be ok and then next week it would be horrible. I've heard good things about Mike and Ed's.

There was a Mike & Eds in Athens, GA for a while. It started out great but declined rapidly. It lasted for two or three years, but is closed now.

My wife is an Auburn graduate. Yes we live in a house divided!
Her favorite place was a small place called "Chucks" in Auburn.

After 25 years I finally went to Auburn to eat there. It SUCKED!
She even said that too! My son is now in school there. The place has been sold and has changed names.

Do I detect a pattern here.....good today....gone tomorrow?
Any others to add to the list?
