View Full Version : I felt I needed some pron this weekend!

Not a big cook...one 9lb brisket and 9lb butt. Brined the butt overnight and slathered the brisket in mustard and rubbed it last night as well. These are, obviously early pics...more as the day goes on!

Click to enlarge. Everything went on about 7:15 here in Memphis. Putting a fatty on about 9am so it's ready for lunch!

Question: What is making that rub so red? I'm referring to the pick of the bowl of red Kool Aid and the red rub next to it. THanks!

Hard to tell to much with the smoke, but this is at about 9:15. Just put too fatties on. One stuffed with cheese...my first time to experiment with something on the inside. Finally got my fire right...sitting about 240*.

It isn't as red as it looks. The metal bowl the butt was in adds to the color with the reflection. The rub is fairly red though...just from paprika.

Well, here's where we stand at 1pm. 2 fattys done...one already gone! Stuffed with some regular ole string cheese and rubbed down....that's good eats!!

Your Q looks delicious; had to be bad!!!!!!!! The string-cheese stuffed fatties sound great, too; understand why one disappeared. Enjoyed the pics while you enjoyed the groceries :o)
