A "scattered thunderstorm" snuck up on me this evening so I did what I had to do. A couple of bungees and an umbrella and I'm good to go.

Probably wouldn't work if it were windy, though. Luckily, there is no wind and it's working like a champ!

I wish I were in AZ. Unfortunately for me, I am the # 9,956,789th fan of humidity.

I'm sure you thought of it, but a gust of wind could tip that baby right over.
But I do admire your ingenuity.

I did indeed think of it. Check the text under the last pic. Luckily, this T-storm brought no wind. I'm thinking that 3 camping/tent spikes would solve that problem in the future, though. One for each leg.
Actually, the spikes would "sort of" solve the potential tipping problem. I understand that, even with the legs secured, a big enough gust could tip the top and middle section over while the bottom section remained secure. This would obviously be no bueno. I don't know... This just kinda happened and I was proud of my McGuyver-ness.
peace out.

If my flight is delayed into West Virginia tomorrow due to a UFO I will understand.

HA! It has yet to leave the ground Mr. Mod! Therefore, it cannot technically be a uFo. Especially if the wind isnt blowing.
I hope your flight goes well. I actually live within a mile of Hartsfield (I live on the good side... We only get bad jet noise once a week on average).
That means that, if you crash on takeoff, you may crash into my house.
Hmmm... bad vibes.
I'll take those back right about now. Maybe that's why the BBQ Gods hate me.

Congrats on your quick thinking and remedy.
I would love to carry that umbrella the next time it rains.
(Believe me....when brdbbq flies over....you will hear the jet noise)
