I am going to a seminar in Dallas for the weekend, and would like to get some BBQ while there. Can anyone tell me where I should go? (P.S. I don't know if this is the right forum or not?)

Sonny Bryans on Inwood was real good back in my day; I will defer to the TEXFO's for a more recent update.

Trust me, there is not much good in Dallas. You have to go to Fort Worth for decent food and culture.

It is not BBQ, but if the company is paying and you have a very good budget, Mansion on Turtle Creek is great. It is Dean Fearing's restaurant and it is in Dallas.

Again, not BBQ, but good home cooking try:

Look up Tejas de Brazil or Fogao de Choa, both are Brazilian steakhouses, all you can eat, about $50/person. Good stuff. http://www.fogodechao.com/dining.htm

It does seem weird, but the DFW area does not have a lot of great BBQ joints. Central Texas is the place for great Texas BBQ.

Fort Worth has Angelo's BBQ and Railhead BBQ. Like anyplace, stay away from the chains. (Luthers, Springcreek, etc).

North Main BBQ in Euless isn't bad if you have transportation and the time. The last couple of times the brisket was a little on the dry side, but everybody is entitled to an off day. $12 for an all you can eat buffet, including tea. Bring your own beer.

What part of Dallas will you be in? I really like Baby Back Shack, but it's not in the best part of town. Even though it's only a couple of blocks from Dallas Police Dept.

Here is my favorite review site for Dallas/Ft Worth food. You need to jump to page 9 and work backwards. After the Quest for Q series, there are a few Mexican restaurants and then a series on chicken fried steak.

TdB is great! It's $40 unless they have gone up since I was there last a few months ago.

We always liked Coulters in Mesquite. It has been 10 years since we lived there so it could have changed, but we used to go for the all you could eat night during the week.
