Would anybody have any interest in a pig pickin party on Sunday Feb 11 at Daisy Mays BBQ in Manhattan ? I have a commitment form some NEBS members to make the trip. That is all...................

Sounds interesting! How about the time, cost, number of people required etc... My BBQ Team members have expressed interest in going to Daisy Mays BBQ. Sundays are usually good.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Yours in BBQ,

Cliff

It's $150 for six. Requires 1 day advanced notice.

backyardchef
01-17-2007, 02:11 PM
It's such a good deal for a large group.

I'd like to say yes, but I'm supposed to be catering a party that day. Let's see what happens....

pigmaker23
01-17-2007, 03:12 PM
The cost per person exclusive of adult beverages will be $ 30.00 -$32.00 PP. This will include 30 lb pigs ( as many as required for the total number attending) side dishes, and some chefs special choices to be determined, I spoke with Adam and he will make the event worth the trip. We need 12-15 people minimum, to make it work, I have at least six now...

so any feedback ?

Fellow Pig Pickin' Partygoers:

I went online to the Daisy May's BBQ U.S.A. Website. I read the reviews... all great... Daisy May's BBQ is B.Y.O.B.... so bring a cooler and B.Y.O.B.! They have water, soda and sweet tea in Mason Jars. They provide plastic aprons and latex gloves. If you are latex and powder sensitive like me, I will be bringing a box of latex free, powder free (Large) Nitrile Exam Gloves for Pickin' with. This should be a great BBQ experience!

See y'all soon...

Amy and I are catering a party in brooklyn for my cousin, she's fighting cancer in her 20's-- yesterday was her birthday and monday she goes back into the hospital for more days of chemo. We're doing everything for her for free. 80 people are coming to celebrate her.

Alot of people here know how I feel about that motherfarkin cancer because of my mom.:evil:

Eric..Thanks for coordinating...

I drove in with Poob and his son James...

It was a great time and the BBQ was even better...Adam Perry Lang is a class act in every way.. You can tell though conversation and in tasting his food that he definitely takes pride in the ingredients he uses and the finished product .

What a spread Adam and his team put out...

Whole Pig
Pork shoulders
Jumbo Beef Ribs (Dinosaur Bones)
Spare Ribs
and an array of all the side dishes they have on the menu

The beef ribs were out of this world !!! And everything else closely followed. It is no wonder that Adam has been so successful in competition.. This was superior BBQ at it's best. IMO, this put the BBQ at RUB to shame...and I think it would be hard to find any other BBQ in the NYC area that can put this type of product out on a consistent basis.

I agree; it was great food and a great time. BUT I do think its wrong to compare it to other events we have had at other places. Each event is different in nature and at a different moment in time. They have ALL been great and it is always a pleasure to see everyone. Thanks to all that made the journey...nancee

Great food, great people, great time....

Eric I have these on CD, give me your address and I'll send it to you and whoever wants one... to put on NEBS or BBQ Brethren.

I don't think that Adam was compensated enough for what he presented today... but the goodwill he generated will pay dividends. This would be great to do again and we should be able to have twice the crowd!!!

first off, thanks to Pigmakr23 for putting this together. It was a great time..

The BBQ?? all I can say is......WOW... amazing stuff. I think i can honestly and safely say its the best i ever had.

Adam came out as soon as we arrived and warm heartfelt greeting from one of our worlds top chefs.. and one of the nicest men I have met on the circuit. The dining area is decorated with pics of Adam with other top chefs, newspaper articles, awards etc, but he will be the first to sit down and shoot the breeze with us.. Truly a gentlemen that epitomizes the best of the people side of BBQ.

The food: as soon as he started slicing the dino bones, i knew we were in for it.. they looked absolutely perfect, and first bite hit hard.. this was not commercial BBQ, but some of the best I ever had.. pork butts were perfect.. he served some pulled, some sliced. One thing i realized after we left. NOTHING was sauced.. No beef, no pork.. Everything was served dry. this stuff needed nothing to enhance it. The only sauce was the dipping sauce on the side. Side dishes included dirty rice, mashed taters, cream spinach, corn, coleslaw, baked apples and some fresh pineapple to finish up. Believe it or not.. I ATE SOME GREEN STUFF!!

The piglet, well, I got Adam to drop some in my dish, but my eyes were closed. :icon_sick

a big thanks again to Eric for arranging, and if i can get Adam to come visit us, a thanks to him here too.. but i think i may just have to go back again just to thank him personally  ..........

none.. I usually dont recruit unless asked.

Adam has requested an ID several times, but I doubt his schedule will have him posting away. He just had a new baby and is caught up in pappahood. Yesterday was his day off, bt he came in to host our party.. Once everyone was served, he hung out for a while then excused himswelf to spend some time with his new daughter.
