My friend YAKFISHINGFOOL gave me this site to check out and I'm glad I did..much info and ideas here. I use a horizontal Brinkman Pro Smoker and have used it for 10 years.....guess what??..an old dog (I'm 58) CAN learn new tricks!!...Do any of you make homemade wine???..I just started up 24 gallons of Merlot/Cabernet blend...8 months from now I'll be popping those bottles and sipping while eating a nice Smoked Butt....I also just picked and froze 35 pounds of wild mushrooms.."Chicken of the Woods" I found on a nearby tree..they were so good just sauteed with butter salt and pepper. Then at my church I looked on the lawn and there were hundreds of Shaggy Manes or Inkies as they are sometimes called just popping up in the lawn..my Pastor laughed at me after service when he saw me with a plastic Shop Rite bag picking them!!!!..There are only 7 varieties that I pick and Fall is PRIME time to look and harvest!!..well I'm glad to be here and hope to learn a lot more from you all!!!..Thank You..Wi-Doe-Maker
Wi-Doe-Maker, Glad to have you. Welcome to the board. Enjoy the ride.

Welcome, I also love mushrooms, but have never educated myself on wild varieties. All I know is some are good, some can be fun, and then there are those that will put you in a box.
I look forward to learning from you.

Those mushrooms look great. I have seen them many times and never knew they were edible.
Any pictures of the magic kind?
