Would potentially be interested but work schedule for the next two months has some travel involved but I don't have all the confirmed dates yet.

In addition, $$ and knowing who the potential instructor would be other considerations...

We would also need to know who and how much $ before committing

NEBS is having a cooking class in October. I might even volunteer to do a brisket demo. You gonna fly in Jorge ?

The New England Barbecue Society is happy to present a barbecue cooking class on October 14, 2006 at the Rod and Gun Club, in Maynard, MA.
Students will learn how to smoke beef brisket and pulled pork, as well as how to cook ribs, chicken, seafood and more, on any type of cooker.
Competition barbecue will be discussed, as will the pros and cons of all of the different types of grills and smokers on the market today, to help you decide which is best for you.
Also, you will learn to prepare and cook this Novemberís Thanksgiving Turkey, as both grilled and smoked turkey will be demonstrated and served.
The cost of the class, which includes dinner, will be $35.00 for NEBS members and $70.00 for non-members, which includes a 1-year membership.
For more info, contact Andy King at basteyboy@comcast.net.

I'd been considering showing up at the Royal with some Cabo Wabo, but this option might work as well.

Steve, I think you and Doug should do a Brethren class! Who is doing the NEBS class btw...the usual cast of characters? If so, we are in this time

I would definitely be interested.

As someone just starting out, I would be happy with any sort of informal lessons as well. It doesn't have to be 'KCBS' sanctioned or anything (for me).

Let me know how much, where and when.

Thanks,

Eric

Rough details:
Fundraiser for school sports program

Paul Kirk as instructor

$250 per person - You provide grills/smokers, cooking tools & fuel - we provide meat/spices/etc. (You will be teamed up in teams of 2 for the class)

40 people max

We need 25 people for it to be financiallly feasible for the Sports program to host it.

We'd need a commitment (meaning cash in our hands) by Oct 5th.

Problem - we're still trying to nail down a location.

We'll keep you posted, but let us (Matt & me) know by responding here if you're interested.

Myron's class is a class act worth every penny it took to get to and take the class. Plus we met a great group of people.

hmmmn...now that is an interesting question. We have taken Paul's class but it was VERY long ago. It is very, very good though so repeating is not totally out of the question. Not sure we can handle the timing though...$500 to cough up the week we go to Georgia is a little tough...maybe he needs some friendly assistants with a lot of gear?

[Side note: Steve sounds like a great gig you'rre doing that day...good for you award or no...still would like to see you and Doug do a class somewhere, sometime...

back to topic, I gather no one is doing the Dover contest on 10/21...

This date looks like a longshot for me...

What timeframe (hours) would we be looking at ?

10/21 is my wife's birthday. I'll be in Atlanta for eight days on business the prior week. Trying to get out of the house again on her b-day will not go over too well.

I've also got a wedding the following weekend for a close family member that's going to require us shelling out a very generous monetary gift.
