This is from my 3rd competition, all back yard. KCBS guidelines were used.

I wouldn't cut the slices in half like that. A full-width slice would make for a better presentation.

If you moved the burnt eds to the front you could have used longer slices. Very in uniform in size. Visit bbqcritic.com for comparison

It is not a very large picture but it looks dry to me. Appearance is such a small percentage of your results, I would practice more on cooking the meat to perfect texture and tenderness.

All the above, + BE should be presented all the same way. HTH

Looks like all your boxes were built in the lid

Based on the picture, a 6 - 7 appearance score. Don't cut in half and put the burnt ends in the front.

Appearance only this is a 4... unflattering placement in the box, burnt ends are not all facing the same direction, dry looking flat

I see a 7 here. Arrangement of slices not uniform, top 2 BE's out of sync with the others. Gaps in the green are distracting. Presentation is in lid of box.

I thin a 5 or a 6.

I'd go with a 6-7 based on the photo. Like stated above, use longer slices if possible, place the BEs in front all facing the same way, take time to make each slice look identical to the others in the layout (they look jumbled up like you just threw them in the box without arranging them), and make sure you spritz or sauce lightly to make them look moist.
Also, build in the bottom of the box - not the lid.

So, I would probably give it a 6 on appearance. For the next time I would try to trim your brisket so when sliced the full slices will fit in the box from side to side. The burnt ends look good!! I would also try to keep them all in the same row and either put them in front of your slice or in back of your slices. Try keeping your slices uniform in thickness. Take your time and practice!!

I just wanted to note that they wrote our number on the box and it had to be placed on the bottom. Thanks everyone for your comments.
