I'll be making prime rib and Linguine and clam sauce, right across form Willy.. So we can fill the plate up with the linguine and then head over to willy and but the clams on the halfshell on top!!! I reserved us a block to keep all the teams hear together. I will use this thread to make the floorplan. ! So chime in if u want to sit in "Brethren Row". Please let me know if u have any special requests or needs. We have 5 corner blocks so if you have a doublewide, let me know that too.

its a buffet!!

Just joined the thread but we will have a team (Smoke in Da Eye, Spot #3) for the grilling competition Sat and will be cooking a whole pig early afternoon for a bit of fun. Hope to meet some of you there. It'll be our first real competition but hoping to get some practice before entering the main event next year.

I'm judging both days. I guess I'll have to limit myself to the Brethren area so nobody complains about me socializing. I learned from Will what not to do!!

Sean and I loaded the rented trailer tonight...except the coolers. A a 5 x 8 trailer just fit everything....not overly packed but not a lot of room for error. The coolers in come in the SUV with us.

We are all set.. We're leaving my house a 6AM for a 10 mile drive to Belmont. Taking it slow as Sean has only mastered driving the trailer unfilled and straight. Watching him try to back the trailer into my driveway was a sight to be seen.

Linguine and clams.... nice !!!

Doing a last minute food shopping tomorrow for the regular food. We'll keep it simple. Eating is the gonna be the last thing on our minds if it's real hot....... Just cold drinks !!!!!

I'm back from San Diego! Smoker, you da man. I tried your suggested eateries with a bunch of guys and you were spot on. Ok! Now it's time to have some real fun. Please, any and all Brethren, stop by and join us for a beer, some corn Saturday night. Whatever works! Comradrie and fun is a real nice side effect of the Contest. Let's party, but not loose site of what we are there to do.

30,000 people, expecting free food, on the NYC border. And you thought the public was rude and ill mannered last year at Heckscher. I'll pass.

Have fun, and good luck though.

I'll wait for Highland to stop by and see you guys.

First let me say that I was not trying to offend anyone, and reading my post above again, I realize that it may not have come out the way I intended it.

If there were 15,000 people last year and the public helping themselves to stuff was an issue, I can't imagine what it will be like with twice that amount?

WRT to NYC, I spend way too much time already going back and forth from LI to NYC, to want to do it on the weekend as well. Never meant to sound like people in NYC were an issue.

I really must remember not to jumble my thoughts.

I hope that you guys have a good time.

The problem last year was no vendors. Because the event was held in a State Park and the State charges an $8.00 parking fee. The people wanted to know what they got for their $8.00. There were no vendors so the public looked to the teams to supply the Que. In alot of instances they took it out the teams because there was no food and they felt duped. Even a local Radio Station mentioned on air "Come down and sample some true BBQ". We were there to compete not to feed the public for free. This year is different, there are a number of vendors so the public should not come to us for food. As a matter of fact this year, samples are frowned on because that takes away from the vendors business.
