Howdy Y'all,

New member, new BBQ'r
just purchased a Masterbuilt electric smoker.
I plan on upgrading once I get this whole thing down,
and would eventually like to try some competitions.

Here are some pix of my first rib smoke

I started with a coat of mustard, the rubbed with 2/3 essence of emeril 1/3 brown sugar smoke with hickory for 2 hours at 230 at one hour mark, spritz with apple cider vinegar/apple juice
wrapped at 2 hour mark, added brown sugar, honey and squeeze bottle butter.
cooked wrapped for 2 hours at 230. after those 2 hours, unwrapped and hit it with my sauce. I used 1/3 lucilles hot and spicy to 2/3 kc masterpiece special blend. I then cut that mixture down with apple cider vinegar, to a slightly runny consistency. put them back in smoker for 45 minutes, let rest for 30. cut em up ate enjoyed.
I had read that with an electric smoker, you wont find the smoke ring without a crushed charcoal briquette in your wood mixture. I will try this next time

Welcome to the Brethren! I do the crushed briquette in my MBE. It will work I do about 2-3 added into the wood chips, not all at once tho, might get a little to hot in the chip tray.
