Hello All,

My name is Brett McKinney from beautiful and sunny SoCal. I got into BBQ 4 years ago as a KCBS judge. Last year, I did my 30th contest and got my Master Judge status. About the same time, I got more involved with the cooking side of competition BBQ and started mixing in cooking in 2-3 competitions a year. Now it is becoming an ever growing obsession with weekend smokes all the norm. I started off on a 18" WSM, the old tried and true. I then went in on a RecTec Pellet Grill - love it. Shortly thereafter, I built my first UDS - still learning that one. My best finish in competition is 7th in brisket and chicken, as it is more many, is my nemesis. As a high school teacher, my students love this hobby of mine as they benefit from leftovers on Monday. I am looking forward to all the Q-talk here and growing and learning in BBQ.
