A couple of months ago my neighbor finally gave his very nice looking, large apple trees a good trimming. I grabbed a bunch, ranging is size from 1" to 4" branches. I cut it up to one foot pieces or so and stacked them under my enclosed trailer layed on a deep layer of stone (well drained). I checked it out last week and split a bunch to find the wood was very dry.

Can it be too dry? Seemed very light. A couple of pieces seemed a bit rotten, but dry. Are these pieces good to burn? Is the bark OK to burn? When using apple, do some mix with hickory or other woods?

I`ve been holding off Q`ing yesterday and today due to the rain. But I`ll be out there tomorrow.

Hope all is well for the brethren................

I have some Maple that I got back in January from a neighbor. Anything that seemed like it too light for its size or had some rot on the center ends I decided to use for fire wood not cooking. I am ultra conservative when it comes to getting someone sick from my cooking.
