Visiting Gaffney, SC and had "Hillbilly BBQ and Steaks" in Gastonia recommended on my drive from Charlotte to Gaffney. Arrived at 10:30 am and tried to order food. Told they open at 11. I told them I had traveled 3,000 miles to eat their food and the owner went in the back and prepared a pulled pork sandwich for me. I am glad he did! I will be stopping there on my way back to the airport on Sunday to try some ribs and sides. Worth the 5 mile trek off the 85.

Red Bridges BBQ Lodge in Shelby was a winner as well. They showed me their 2 giant pits after I finished off the hush puppies, slaw, chopped pork, beans and sweet tea. I used the cup of warm sauce they brought to dip the hush puppies in (not sure that's how you do it, but tasted good). The 3,000 mile trek was worth the places I was able to eat at.
Sounds like they treated you right. :thumb:
