I just set up wGrill online, which all of you guys can check on line.
It is at my basement, and the IP address will change every day.
I will keep it updated every day for one week for BBQ brethren to check online
Today address is

By using a proxy server, you can also get a fixed address like
http://oicq.wgrill.net:8080 Then you do not need to care about changing IP every day. I do not do it yet. oicq is in chinese. You guys can find server in English.

Your BBQ team member can joint your competition together when all members are at different corners of the earth as long as they can access Internet.

When you and your kids are playing in the park 10 miles away, you can check your smoker/meat temp. at your backyard from your iPhone

When you are tropical Florida, you can monitor temp. of your house in New York. If temp. drops to certain level, it means a broken window, or a down boiler. You can prevent the broken water pipe before disaster happens

I am a mechanical engineer.
I can set up wGrill up just by written operational manual without any help from I.T. engineer. Most of you brethren shall be able to wGrill up too.

Still doesn't work

I try to solve the problem by my self from the operational manual only.
I try to avoid help from the developer, the I.T. engineer
This way if I can set it up, all you guys can do it too.
I have a wireless Router, and this Router connects to 4 Routers by Cat5 lines. I can reach wGrill by the IP address of from all Routers. This way where ever you are at your home, you can access the wGrill.
It is really much better than Bluethooth.
I do not find reason why you can not view from internet.
It must be a small setting
It is later 23:15.
I will fix it tomorrow.

My Router has not exactly same Security as wGrill.
I must buy a new Router after chinese new year holiday Feb.06.
I am afraid that you guy can check temp. online after Feb.10

So far with 2 Routers and one CAT 5 line, wGrill can easily cover your yard of 1 or 2 acres. whether you are inside your house or out in the other side of yard.
Price of Router is $10, and price of 2 pieces $20
CAT5 line is very cheaper.

Now it shall work well.
I use a free proxy server service

02-04-2014, 04:02 PM
Finally I realize that my ISP blocked port 8080
After changing to port 12080, it works

Not working for me, I'm on an iPhone

Are you a framer.
As long as your greenhouse has WIFI access, during snow storm, you can stay at your cozy home, just check temp. of your greenhouse from your iPhone. If temp. is normal, you do not need to drive to your greenhouse during snowing night. What is nice night!

When you are on holiday at Florida beach,
Your house in Boston is withstanding 0F snow storm
Is your window glass broken.
Is your boiler failure.
Is your water pipe frozen to burst.
Do not worry
Enjoy your holiday, just watch your iPhone for temp. of your house.

The demo is alive now
Please do check temp. of my basement in Beijing by your computer or smart phone
I set it myself by written manual and without any oral/word help from the developing engineers.
I am a mechanical engineer, If I can set it up, most of you can too
But to access wGrill to Internet really needs some knowledge of I.T.

Thanks GOD, to access wGrill to your home WIFI network is very easy.
Then the effective distance is every corner of your house and yard.
The smoker may be on your back yard.
You are driving lawn mover on your front yard.
Still you can read temp. from your iPhone.

On the contrary the blue tooth can hardly penetrate one solid wall.

I just checked by a free Proxy Server service provided by Google.
By this free service It seems I am viewing from States.
Facebook and Youtube are blocked in China
By this service I can view both sites too.
I just check http://wgrill.xicp.net:12080/ via this proxy server, it works
But it is not online 24 hours a day.
I try my best to have it alive a few hours per day.

It's alive on the Net.

I'm using a Speedstream Modem/Router on a DSL connection. I went to Dyndns.com and created an account, enabled automatic DNS update in the router and added the host info. Under Port Forwarding, I forwarded both TCP and UDP to port 8010 for the IP address I assigned to the wGrill.

Now this WILL NOT WORK if you try to click on the URL from INSIDE your home network. You have to use an outside network. In this case I used my iPhone to create a WIFI Hotspot so my Cellular network was used, connected to that with my iPad, and typed in the address. That way the iPad was on a different network than my home network.

This has been up for over 17 hours now. If you go the bottom left corner there are a couple of boxes you can change from C to F, or look at the History curve or the real time curve. You may have to refresh the page to get updated graphs, so far it is updating just fine on my home network . I will leave this up for several days, if my IP address changes, Dyndns should update accordingly.

Here it is on my iPad over a cellular connection.
