View Full Version : A big hell yeah from KC!!!

Hello everyone. My name is Chris and I'm from Overland Park, KS just outside KC. I love BBQ, so that's why I'm here.

A guy from another forum recommended this site to me since there were a lot of people from here going to the Great American BBQ contest this weekend. I had asked if anyone over on that forum was going and well, nobody replied. I'll be there for the open with a team I just joined called Sauced Pigs. We'll be in space 363, so stop on by if you want to meet us.

It will be my first competition, but the team captain has already been competing for a few years with that team name. He already has some good results with his brisket and ribs. I'm bringing my butt and chicken and hopefully I'll do well enough to put us in the hunt for a GC. Since it's my first ever entry, I know it's a long shot for me to win, but I can dream can't I? Besides, the team captain liked it, but then again, he even said himself that he obviously must not be the best judge of good chicken and butts considering his past competition results!

I'm a lifelong native of KC, and been doing real backyard Q for the last 3 years. I got the bug to start competing last summer, but didn't have a way to make it happen with my little backyard offset Brinkmann. I'll get me a real pit sometime in the next couple of years, but until then I'll just help out teams that are willing to let me help. Sauced Pigs was looking for another BBQ'd brain to help out, so that should work fine for now. Who knows, maybe it will be a team to stick around with if we get good results together!

I go the nickname Mad BBQ Scientist because of all of the BBQ cooking experiments I do. I've grown kind of attached to the nickname and think I'll just keep on using it over here.
