After doing 3 comps last year I am looking forward to diving much deeper this year into the pit! Last season I did the BBQ Battle in DC, smoke on the Water in Atlantic City, and the Battle of the Breathren in LI, all big comps. I am looking for comps this season and would love some suggestions. I am looking for bigger, more prestigious comps with big name competitors and exposure. I am located out of NY, but open to traveling along the east coast.

Doesn't get more prestigious than Tryon NC or ShelbyNC.

Ok maybe not prestigious but its a great comp. We missed it last year, hopefully we can make it this year. usually around the second weekend in April.

Our website will be up in a week or so. We did a small 2 meet contest last year (and had some great teams) This year we have changed the name and venue. It will be called Southern Maryland Bew & BBQ held at the St Marys County fairgrounds on August 1st and 2nd we will have 15K pay out for the KCBS contest and 1500 for peoples choice. We would love to have you. Entry fee will be 275 Water and electric at no extra cost. We have 14 Water electric (50 Amp) and sewer spots that will be first come first served. If you do peoples choice all meat will be provided by a sponsor and you will recive a $25 discount on the entry fee. We also hvae a very large indoor A/C judging facility (which will be nice in August).

Looks like a good competition for a great cause. I will add it to my list.

Brian won't say it because he's too modest, but Roc City is easily the largest event in the northeast, and one of the best run too. It's at a new venue this year, so will have to see how that works out, but you should check it out.

Others in your area worth looking at: Smoke in the Valley (Green Lane, PA), Hudson Valley Rib Fest (New Paltz, NY), and of course Sam's Club if they go this year.

www.nebs.org doesn't have their 2014 list up yet, but when they do it's a good reference for northeastern contests.
