Over the past few weeks I have been searching for a new pit and the posts here have been of the utmost value. I have bounced in and out as a lurker for a few years but now it's time to come out of hiding.
Although I am from North Ga., my grandfather raised me on North Carolina style bbq. I built my first pit in my backyard 12 years ago. It is a brick pit modeled after the pit by Dave Lineback. Since that time I have learned to appreciate many of the different regional styles of cooking and the sauces that go with them. Though I am personally a purist at heart, I have no issues with trying all the various techniques and cookers. For the past two years I have been competing backyard as part of team Q-inator! and we are getting reading to try our first pro event in December.
I am glad to be a part of the group and hope I can pay back some of the help that I have received here.
