Ive been through Memphis more times than I can count and have been to three bbq places there: Central Ave BBQ, Interstate BBQ and Charley Vergas Rendevous...really enjoyed central. Im headed back to Memphis is November around Thanksgiving and thinking of trying out Melissa Cookstons place in Horn Lake, MS. Anyone ever been there or have any other suggestions of a place to try out.

Cozy Corner is worth the effort. Especially their smoked Cornish Hen.

I'll second Cozy Corner.

Three for Cozy Corner. Not only the Cornish hens, but their bologna sammich is darn good too. Then, there's the Bar-B-Que Shop on Madison Avenue. A&R BBQ on Elvis Presley is worth a visit too. Go during daylight, which is also advice for the Cozy Corner...

The Memphis BBQ Co. is worth the short drive down I-55. The Q is good but they have other things for the non BBQ eater as well. I try and stop every time I have to run up to Memphis.

You can't go wrong with the Cozy Corner either and there is also 10 Bones BBQ down from Memphis BBQ Co. right before you get to Hwy 78.

If you are going to be there for a extended amount of time and want something other than que (GASP), the kid that is cooking at Bardog tavern, HOLY COW! They are not just kicking out tavern food. This kid is cooking some top notch food. Has been featured on many TV shows. I stopped by there to see a friend of mine while I was in town and he raved about the food. I thought yeah, ok. I tried it, defo not bar food.

If I went back to Memphis any time soon, that would surely be one of my stops.

If you are there on a Saturday or Sunday, just show up at deguerre's house. He'll have Redhot cook you up some fine vittles.

Since nobody's said Gus' Fried Chicken yet, I'll say it:

Gus' Fried Chicken.

There. I said it. Fanfarkingtastic place - get the fried green tomatoes while you're at it.

If I'm off work when you come to Memphis I would most likely be able to show you around. I live real close to The Commissary and don't mind going to any of the others.
