What's AC? More info would help, like dates, location, full title.

I can hit their site as well. Try clearing your browser cache. That sometimes helps. Or, are you on a corporate network? Could the firewall be blocking it?

It's being held in the Showboat parking lot on the north end of Atlantic Avenue. There are competitor rates at all CET properties (Showboat, Harrahs, Caesars). The two closest hotels are the Showboat and The Trump Taj Mahal.

It's about a 20 block walk from the Trop. Take the Jitney (bus) that runs Atlantic Ave.

Wife and I were in Atlantic City last month for the first time, stayed at the wyndham around the corner from the Taj Mahal. What a great venue for a bbq contest.
Like others said, take the Jitney bus, it was $2.25 pp each way, well.worth it. Several stops along.the way and the bus driver would stop most anywhere you asked him to.
Good luck to everyone cooking in this one.

Just booked at The Showboat tonight for Friday night and Saturday night. I called the 800# and mentioned the BBQ Contest rate and it was about $40 higher than just going to the Showboat website and booking the rooms.

Hi Sat nite rates are very high..Resorts wanted $299.00 for Sat. When I looked at Showboat the rate for Sat was $245.00. No wonder why they are dying down there.

Talk about lucky. Lulu was reading junk mail from Harrahs that I usually throw away. Sure as chit it had a deal for 3 free nights at any of their AC properties. Booked at Showboat plus $100 food vouchers.

Now we'll see just how free it is before I get out of there and away from the slots.

They just dropped the rates overnight - The Showboat rates for the event (Group Code = PBBQ) is now Thursday - $39, Friday - $69, Saturday $179 and Sunday $39. Here's the link to all the CET properties with the group rate. Make sure you click on the correct hotel. If you've already made reservations (like I did ) you'll have to cancel them and rebook to get the lower rate. https://www.totalrewards.com/hotel-reservations/?propcode=BAC&view=ratecal&groupcode=PBBQ (https://www.totalrewards.com/hotel-reservations/?propcode=BAC&view=ratecal&groupcode=PBBQ) BALLYS

I just love it when they hand out boxes in alphbetical order. This whole "may your name be called last" thing is overrated IMHO. :becky:

The Showboat and The Taj are the closest hotels to the event. Of course if you want to get all fancy, join Matt at the Borgata. Better for playing poker , but a long walk to the contest.

If you take the train (NJ Transit, leaves from Philly) the Atlantic City train station has shuttles to all of the hotels. Showboat/Taj shuttle drops you off right across from the contest venue.

Atlantic City Fire Code will be strictly enforced.

"Charcoal Cooking:
Use only an electric starter or commercially sold lighter fluid."

This should be an easy contest after the fire department disqualifies 80% of the teams :becky:

It will be interesting to see how they accommodate teams that didn't order a double space since they didn't disclose the FD regs upfront.

Didn't you, in an earlier post about Seaside, say you wanted to eat the competitor's food. Probably drink their beer (I'm bringing Switchback, Shed and Headdy Topper) but you didn't want to help around the site specifically dishes. And you wonder why?

We are leaving up here after work on Thursday hoping to get pretty far into Jersey and should be on site by 9am. Looking for a good time on Friday with my old peeps. 5 years ago I knew just about everyone who cooked in the North East, now I don't seem to know anybody. Well I guess taking 5 years off starting a BBQ business has taken it's toll on some relationships, have to form some new ones.

Eric,
Looking forward to it, sorry we couldn't hang at Harpoon, you looked busy and I didn't want to get the reputation of freeloading that some seem proud of.

I could be talked into it. Hopefully people show up. I used to play other tournaments at the Taj, but over the last few years they have been shrinking and sometimes don't start due to lack of players. Everyone is at The Borgota or Showboat. (Showboat has an 11PM, btw)

The midnight one at the Taj though was still getting a decent turnout last time I played in it, but that was a couple of years ago.
