Guess its about time I stopped lurking and started posting. I'm probably the furthest north around here; we're on the Quebec-Ontario border about 7 hours north of Montreal. I been cooking Q for quite a few years now and catering for 4 or 5. I use a custom designed Good One clone on a tandem trailer for crowds and some smaller stuff for home. Just starting to learn about "Méchoui"; the traditional barbecue of the French of Quebec, France and North Africa. I'm looking forward to sharing information and havin fun here. Seems like a good bunch.

That would be the black fly. They let em carry guns here to give em a chance against the mosquitoes.

Best suggestion would be to google mechoui and browse a bit. A lot of the hits will be in French. I can probably help there.
I'm still working on it to use in catering. Traditionally its a combination of pork and lamb in Quebec from what I have learned so far.
Mechoui is like luau or barbecue .... its a philosophy as much as a style.

Hey Mike. I don't know if its a reality yet, but I heard there was one more section to open to let boats use the Ottawa river from Montreal to Temiskaming. That would be a good trip!

Welcome to the site. You come from one of my favorite parts of the earth. In fact I might be up your way this summer. It doesn't get much better than Canada.

Peter, I did the "triangle cruise" several years ago. started at the thousand island on the st. lawrence and went down to montreal then up the ottawa river to Ottawa and down the Rideau waterway to kingston then on back to the 1000 islands. awesome!!! Be great if the opened the ottawa all the way to Temiskaming. Gorgeous country.
