View Full Version : Hi from Northeast Missouri

I've been reading this forum for a couple of weeks and have already learned a ton. I am a small-town attorney with a wife and two boys. I primarily cook for family and friends and for my own enjoyment.

I've entered several local BBQ cook-offs and have gotten my butt kicked each time. My "team" consists of me and another semi-serious cook and several other team members who show up to drink beer and eat our food... but mysteriously disappear when there's work to be done.

I enjoy the cooking, but I'd like to make a more respectable showing in the local contests. In other words, I'm here to learn.

Welcome to the forum. You will learn a ton here. My advice on the amateur comps... no booze until after turn in. I'm not kidding... I love to drink just like any other guy, but if you want to be serious about winning a comp, no booze until turn in. I hate to say it, but my wife gave me this advice, and its the best I have had.
