Hi everyone! I am very excited to join the site. A long time BBQ enthusiast but only been cooking for the last 3 or 4 years and only the basics (ribs & chicken) on a charcoal grill. After watching my mother in law destroy a pork butt by boiling it on the 4th I can't take bad bbq anymore. I think I may make a UDS or a 2 barrel big smoker if I can get barrels cheap enough.

I'll likely lurk and read alot. Occaisionally ask a rookie question but looking forward to learning, cooking, and of course eating.

Thanks. I spent some time at Univ of Pitt Bradford and between my sons hockey trips and my wife's family near Washington PA I get to your neck of the woods a fair amount. Happy smoking.

Welcome!! Boiled pork butt?

She's Irish, they boil everything. I bought 3 full slabs of ribs last year to try and experiment a bit with different techniques. One was a recipe a chef friend gave me that you do in the oven and finish on the grill, a dry rub, and a sauce recipe that I had. I came home (she lives with us) to find all 3 slabs in a huge pot on the stove....boiling. I wanted to cry.
