I will be in Alexandria next week for work and am looking for any must eat places in the DC area. Preferably easy within easy public transportation; or a short-ish drive away from the city. Thanks to all.

Pizza Paradiso in Alexandria. It's good stuff. And good beer selection.

I have to add this joint. Bread and Kabob. It's not close to public transportation, but whenever I would visit my buddy in DC, we would go there. Dive, but very good eats!

Shrimp and grits at 219 were pretty good. I think they called it Big Easy BBQ shrimp.

The menu at the Warehouse, right across the street looked pretty good, too.

I think tomorrow there's some sort of crab feast thing going on at Union Street.

Thanks all, for the replies. Wasn't available to go to any of the places, but I do appreciate it. I will say that I was able to go to Ben's Chili Bowl. It was very tasty for a chili covered sausage, but seems to be a place to go for the experience.

Currently sitting in the airport waiting on a flight that has been repeatedly delayed. Had to switch to a different airline and an airport 2 hours from home in order to get home tonight. Have a contest to judge tomorrow, and know that they might be short without me.
