Dayton, OH and BBQ -- somehow I think there is a disconnect!!

Beer, on the other hand, can probably be arranged! :-P

In the words of a famous child psychologist: "Somebody, help the boy!"

I found this on the web. Not sure how old. Call first.
"Check out Burbanks in Sharonville at
I75 just south of I275 (across from the Marriott Hotel). For better Q
than this you'll have to drive to Cleveland."

I live near Dayton... The best barbecue is at my house, of course!

For restaurants, the best ribs are downtown at Jefferson and 5th at Smokin'. City BBQ is actually pretty decent, and it's in Centerville (south part of Dayton). Good brisket and sides. The ribs aren't much. I actually have a bit of a review on my blog (http://buckymcoinkumsbbq.typepad.com/buckyblog/2006/02/bbq_joint_revie.html). Burbanks used to be decent; he at least tried to find out how to do bbq. I like City BBQ as well, though, and Smokin' has good ribs and sides. It all depends on whether I'm too lazy to cook for myself and what I'm in the mood to eat.

I used to work for a company that was based in Dayton. I don't remember much in he way of BBQ. Here's some other options...

If you have a car, you can take a ride to Cincy and check out the Montgomery Inn (http://www.montgomeryinn.com/restaurants/). Pretty good ribs.

How about Thai? this place used to be great. Family owned and run.

Also, I used to like the Shuckin' Shack (http://dinesite.com/info/rstrnt-46031/??&t=0)for inexpensive catfish and oysters. not fancy, but good food.

You also HAVE to go to Skyline Chili (http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16188&highlight=skyline+chili)when you are there!

I have to disagree on the Montgomery Inn ribs... I've never really been a fan.

Have you been to Thai 9 in the Oregon District? Good Thai (for Dayton), and pretty good sushi.

If you want to try something other than barbecue, the best restaurant in town is El Meson in West Carrollton.

El Meson! I couldn't remember the name of that place! Thanks! Good place!

I've never tried Thai 9. I think I remember seeing it, but never went there. Its been three or four years since I was in that area.
