Congrats to 3Eyz on their Grand. It's a win win for us since that makes #7 for 3Eyz thus pulling all their bungs from the MD Jack draw. Nice back to back chicken wins for Diego BBQ:wink: (does this mean you're changing your team name to Zorro BBQ?)

My hat's off to Wayne and Cindy from Big Fat Daddy's for a kick ass first year event. It's a shame that even though the weather was nice at the fairgrounds, the surrounding area storms kept a lot of people away. Don't give up guys, next year will be great.

Not quite back to back, but two out of the last three still made for a happy day. And we are trending in the right direction, so that was a plus. Now we leave the pursuit of the Springfied Cup to you, VA BBQ Pirates, Brown Liquor or perhaps a challenger that rises from the mean streets of Daventry, Cardinal Forest or the shadow of El Grande Supermercado.

Also, HUGE thanks to Cindy and Wayne for their work in organizing and running this event! It was great! They really went out of their way to make sure the teams had everything they needed. Their generosity for extra space where we were made a world of difference! Water, electricity, trash, ice, etc... set-up was great.

The personal attention that Cindy put forth in the throphies, goody bags and extra awards is be be commended! And the really great lunch and "spanking good" breakfast was about as good as you could ask for! I mean really, they went all out on this.

I sure hope they continue next year as we will be back!

Thanks!

Thanks to all of the teams that welcomed us this weekend. We competed a few times last year in NC and are starting to compete more in the Mid-Atlantic since I moved to Va. Looking forward to competing again soon.

Too cool! Just went to the Hogging Up BBQ web site (http://fargofotos.smugmug.com/Competitions/Hogging-Up-BBQ-and-Music/30262453_TS3k3x#!i=2605287261&k=6s7r643) and they have posted pics from the comp.

And, this is a big deal for us! Our pic is on there twice as we got 2 (not 1, but 2) calls! Man, I am glad they did award thru 10th place. We got 7th in pork, and 9th in chicken.

Got to camp next to DeGuello and Smokin' Gnome teams. And I must say thanks to Kit for the tips and advice on many things, especially on the BBQ Guru. About 7:00am Saturday morning, my Guru WiFi starting going bonkers. The temps on the pit and food were going up and down about 15 degrees. The fan didn't know whether to go on or off. After talking with Kit about it, he said it was most likely the voltage levels. He was spot-on! Gave some great advice for future comps in case that happens again.

And camping next to Sal, well, that was nothing short of a HOOT! He is one crazy guy! Just my kind of company! Thanks to Sal for the tips and pointers he gave us.

When we got our call for chicken, I did see someone in the gallery (you guys know who you are) holler out and ask me if "McGrath" visited me the night before. No, I made sure to only have 2 cold beers ready at any time. That forced me to wait until more beer got cold, and, I also didn't bring 48 beers!!!

And even though we didn't camp next to Mike and Don, it was a pleasure talking with them. Thanks guys for the "extras". I think I am going to have to make a recording of our "team" snoring during the night and place a little speaker next to the Aporkalypse campsite next time if we don't end up next to them; don't want them miss us......:tape:

I must say, the BBQ comp folks are some of the best you will meet! This stuff has the wife and I hooked! Just wish we had more energy and equipment to make it to more comps. Wife say we need to look for a Battle Wagon / Bat Mobile, now!! Need to get away from the renting U-Haul crap.

So, check out the pics!
