Neil here,
I am again organizing the Potluck...everyone rejoice!

Last years theme filled us all up with love...it was completely stuffed full of fun and excitement!

But alas, a theme is needed for this year! What shall it be...

1. "International Love" - Everyone must cook a dish from one of the countries listed in the Pitbull and Chris Brown song of the same name...then we dance.
2. "Let Your Soul Glow" - Mmmm, soulfood. Better do some curls for this one friends...it could get greasy
3. "Death by Bacon" You can cook whatever you want...it just has to have some form of Bacon.
4. "Ain't none of that now Child" - you must adapt a Julia Child's recipe to BBQ.

These are your four choices...Start posting your favorite my fine fellow followers of the Church of Cochon...feel free to email fellow teams not on the brethren...my email is TooSaucedToPorkBBQ@Gmail.com

(Unsolved Mysteries theme music)
UPDATE....

A fifth category has been added by our esteemed Grand Poomba Giggler.
5. BBQ Favorites- Favorite BBQ Dish that you cook at home with friends and family.

Don't mess around! We close the doors at 50. There are 41 KCBSers paid, with 5 that are on their way. Who knows how many more are coming in that I'm not aware of. Seriously, if you are planning on it, get it in.

I sent this precontest email to everyone registered. Some of the emails bounced back because it seems good penmanship has been deemed obsolete.... (rolling eyes) Thought I post it here for the world to see.

Greetings,

We're closing in on our event. Some of you are already hot on the Circuit, and I sincerely wish each and every one of you the very best this season. At the time of this writing, we have 45 competitors for KCBS, and 24 competitors for NEBS. There are still some entry forms coming in, so we may be sold out in the near future.

A couple things to go over. Please take the time to read this, as I've done my level best to address the most frequent questions I get leading up to the event.

For your convenience, I've attached another copy of the entry form which summarizes the entire event including the categories, rules, markets, hotels, and directions.

Upon arrival, come in the main gate off South Park Avenue. Drive down the main boulevard, and turn to the right as you near the casino. The entrance for teams will be on the far right at the edge of the parking lot. Easy in, easy out. There will be signs. As some of you know, I don't do preassinged spaces. Its first come, first served, with KCBS and NEBS Teams getting preferred billing to keep the event looking full on Sunday. If you have a team you wish to be set up next to, plan to arrive at the same time to insure you get set up next to one another.

Neil from Too Sauced To Pork has graciously accepted a second term as the organizer of Friday Night's Social Gathering and Bread Breaking for both Teams AND Judges. We will convene at the Judge's Room/Agriculture Center (near the main stage and beer tent) 30 minutes following the Cook's Meeting on Friday Night. Please contact Neil directly to correspond if you plan to partake. The theme for this year's dinner is "Makin' It With Bacon!"

The "complimentary/private party beverages" will also be set up in the Judge's Room in the Ag Center.

Our esteemed bbq judges should be pleased when they arrive. They will be located inside the Ag Center, which has bathrooms and air-conditioning. I'm also pleased to report that once again, David and Eileen Bunn have assembled a panel of judges that are ALL KCBS Certified. Special thanks to David and Eileen.

We're all together this year in the RV area. Each site will have water and electric hook ups directly behind your cook sites. Bring extension cords and hoses. The Fairgrounds has granted us the priveledge to use these grounds again, and we ask that there be no dumping of grease or open fires on the ground for the duration of the event. Ash and grease disposal will be available. This hasn't been a problem before, so let's all do our best to keep it that way.

The following list of teams is competing in KCBS and NEBS, but still owes for camping on Saturday Night (any team that sent $300 for KCBS and NEBS, should have sent $325). Camping was included in the $225 you sent for Friday Night Only. To make this simple, I will collect the $25 for Saturday Night when you are checking in on Friday. Please have cash or check available. So everyone knows, The Fairgrounds charges $25/night camping on the RV sites, hence the increase in KCBS for everyone this year. If you hadn't planned on staying Saturday Night, but would like to, please let me know at the time of check in, so this is quick and easy. Thank you in advance.

Next up is Sampling to the Public. We have 23 teams signed up to participate in the fundraiser for the Patchin Fire Company. THANK YOU. A couple things to keep in mind. We get a blanket Food Service Permit from the Erie Co Department of Health. Last year, they sent inspectors to each site. Please make sure to have thermometers, sanitary gloves, a proper device to keep food hot, use bottled water with any food preparations, and a general bleach based cleaner such as Clorox Cleanup on hand. The Sampling was a huge hit with the Public last year, and we would guess they will love it just as much this year. Samples tickets will be sold for $2.00 per ticket, and the PFC will pay back $1.00 for each ticket you turn in at the conclusion. There were quite a few entry forms received that had no indication on whether or not you plan to participate. If you want to be a part of the fun, please bring 2 extra pork butts, and stick around after you get your turn in boxes Friday Night.

That wraps it up. Have a safe journey in. See you next week!

Best Regards,

Mike
