Hey guys, my name is Brent and I am definitely a novice in the world of smoking meats. I enjoy the outdoors, hunting, shooting traditional bows, camping, fishing. Now it looks as if I've found something new to enjoy, which also makes my wife happy.

My one piece of equipment is an "ugly" UDS I built a few weeks ago (haven't painted it yet). One month ago I had never heard of a UDS. My wife asked me to buy a smoker and try to start smoking meat. So my first stop was at Wal-Mart. Now to decide vertical or offset. Didn't look like the small vertical ones there would hold much meat (I have 4 kids, 3 of which are teenagers). So that's when I started searching for smokers online and ran across the Brethren. Found some plans for a UDS, two weekends of burning out the liner, another weekend assembling, there you have it. I had never tried to smoke meat before, but have now done some fatty's, chicken quarters, and one pork butt thanks to the help of you guys on here. I appreciate all the valuable input so a novice like me can turn out some decent bbq.

Yeah, we were all ready to get our coach in place. Always look forward to playing the bayou bengals. More times than not they're really good games either way.
