View Full Version : Hello!

I've been logging on to this site for a few weeks now as a member, but never bothered to post in the Cattle Call. I have just recently started to really appreciate and try to cook good BBQ. I had no idea that it was so popular and had such a huge following. I currently have a Bar-B- Chef offset smoker(similar to a Hondo or New Braunfels). I have modified it adding a baffle, chimney extension, and vertical grates in the firebox to allow for longer consistant heat. It has been a blast! I have done butts, ribs, chicken and even a 22lb ham with good success. Brisket is still a work in progress! I have just started to build my own mobile pit from scratch using a 6' x 24" steel tube for the cooking chamber. The help and suggestions,as far as design, that I have received from internet q'ers has been invaluable. Thanks! I live in northern CA in the town of Auburn, where I am a HS teacher and head football coach. I have not noticed too many of us left coasters on this site.Anyhow, thanks for making this forum available. I look forward to keeping in touch.

Welcome Pigskin. Yeah not many of us West Coasters around. I think most of 'em are into sushi. I grew up in Redding and moved south To San Jose. I'm curently in Washington. BBQ is on the move on this side of the continent though. Several new places opened in town in the last couple of years. Glad to see you are holding up your end down in Cali.
