You know, that jar of pickles I opened up Saturday lasted about 30 minutes before it was all gone...

We're hoping to heat'um up a bit at some point in the year. That way we'll have the regular version and a spicier version. But we're having to balance that with dealing with Kroger as well and our Blue Hawg label. They are pushing us to put our hot version of the BBQ sauce (under the Blue Hawg Label) in their store as soon as possible. Which all of the above cost money and time so we're deciding on which one to do and when we'll have time to do it. LOL!

Will Kroger be having the sauce in the midwest?

Will Kroger be having the sauce in the midwest?

Man we sure hope so. Right now we're only in the Kroger stores in the Shreveport/Bossier City Area. But we are branching out as quick as we can. My business partner and I both have "real jobs". So the time we get to allocate to Double D's BBQ, LLC is limited to weekends and internet marketing/sales/promotions. But we're moving at a steady pace. This time last year we got into our first Kroger store. Within a year got into all four in the area. Which in our opinion was quite an accomplishment seeing the limited time we have to beat the streets and push it.

In the Kroger store we carry it under our "Blue Hawg" label. On our website and in tradeshows we carry that SAME sauce under the Double D's Label. The Double D name is the original name. We agreed with Kroger that we'd come up with a different name/label for them. So we did. Click on our facebook page in my signature and see what the Blue Hawg label looks like. We like it better than the original Double D's label. LOL! But it is the exact same sauce.

We try to offer promo's (when we can) to allow the people (like yourself) who live out of our area to be able to buy from our website and pay as close to the price on the Kroger shelf as possible.

Man, ask the local Kroger managers to talk it up to the managers here in Memphis!

The Kroger on Youree Dr (in Shreveport) is the 4th best performing Kroger in the country. That was the first one we got in. The store manager there has helped us get in the rest of the ones around town. I will talk to him next Tuesday and see what kind of stroke he has outside this area. :thumb:

Buzzard, since you have family here in Lake Charles, are you trying to get in the market down here? The bottles you gave me are just a memory.

Sorry, just saw this. Yes we are trying. We're trying to get in Kroger under our "Blue Hawg" label. I'm planning on visiting Lake Charles this summer and dropping by the Kroger and other local stores down there.

What I posted in that other thread is pretty much what they serve at Big Bob Gibson's. People literally steal it from the restaurant tables. I bet your sauce would go over quite well in North Alabama.

You think so?! What we're basically trying to do is two pronged.

1. We're trying to get it into markets that like that style of sauce.

and

2. Introduce it into markets that do not have that style sauce as a common option. We've found that A LOT of people who say they are "Thick"/"Sweet" sauce type people try it and actually like it. They've just gotten so used to one style that they've never given any other kind a shot. Houston, TX is a great example. Went down there for a trade show and to begin with got a cold response. People wouldn't even try it because of the consistency they saw in the jar. But once they actually tried it they liked it!!!! Imagine that!!!

North Alabama is kinda of a regional mix. You're sauce is unique though, and that should make it quite the "Boutique" brand.

On edit, there is a pretty BIG sanctioned BBQ Contest in Decatur and the GC automatically qualifies for the Royal. You might want to make it there this year - you've got plenty of time as it's in September.

The 19th annual Riverfest will be Sept. 13-14, 2013, at Ingalls Harbor in Decatur, Alabama.

I'm sure they have a sauce competition...:thumb:

Wow! That festival looks NICE!!!! I'll talk with my business partner and if we can fit it in we might just roll up there.

BTW, have you ever eaten at Archibalds in Northport? I keep reading and hearing that their sauce and bbq is out of this world.

The festival is indeed very nice! Plus, Decatur is a real friendly city. And it's my hometown of course and my mom lives there. Quite a few Brethren teams always attend every year too. I'm going to try and make it myself this year. I think I might have a free place to stay. Never been to Archibalds though. Haven't been in the Tuscaloosa area in a very long (Decades) time.

OK, looking at last years roll call it looks like at least 10 or 12 Brethren teams competed from as far away as Long Island and Canada...

We've never done a competition before. We were going to do a local one last month but the dates conflicted with a show we had at Kroger. I'd be scared to death! LOL!!!

Here's a thought. Imagine how well it would go over IN Alabama if you used the brand name "Bama Buzzard's Double D Sauce"? You'd just have to make a sign for your booth. Wouldn't even have to change the jar lable...OR, do a short lable run. Use your avatar somewhere.:becky:
