Ya guys want to meet in Brooklyn on Feb 18 for a beef and beer? $5 all the beer and roast beef sandwiches you can eat. It's also a night at the races, so betting is involved.

Friday's are usually better for me, as Sat/Sun are normally family get together days and nights.. I'll go anywhere... Brooklyn might be a nice change of pace

I'm open to anytime any place. Lets nail down whether Friday or Saturday is good for everyone since some people seem to have weekly commitments.

If other than LI are welcome I will try for either day however Friday would be best for me.

I thought Phil threw out Sat. the 18th or the 25th ?

I can do a Friday, but I'd prefer Saturday on Long Island. Not to be selfish but driving to Brooklyn usually sucks, especially after work on Friday...stop and go all the way. I'm usually exhausted from a busy week go to bed by 10 so I can get up early on Sat to work out. I really like Brooklyn Q and all, but I can't stand driving to Brooklyn if I can avoid it. I lived there for 20 yrs. The only time I go back is to visit my grandmother a few times a year. About two years ago, my dad's car got stolen while visiting one night and I was parked in front of him. I was driving home and realized I had no radio reception. The farkin crooks, used my antenna to get into his car !!!!!!

Sat nights have no limit and I'm usually in a much better mood...Also, I asked my teammate/brother in law Sean if he'd be into going and said yes... I had mentioned a Sat. night to him earlier today. He works until late evening on Fridays (he's a pharmacist). He'd be able to make a Sat. most likely.

Whatever the group consensus is, I'll do...

But my vote is Sat 2/18 or 25 @ Hooters... It seems like tradition at this point... If it's a Friday, the 17th is definitely out...the wife has plans and I'm babysitting my little girl...

I would think if we had to drive into Brooklyn, a Sat would be better traffic wise. I can take a bunch of u farkers since I dont drink.

If we do brooklyn can we do it by train? I don't mind the drive but parking gives me agina..... Nothing like a good train ride to top off a night of drinking.

BQ,

Just curious... where is the $ 5 all you can eat beef sandwich party ? Is it only on a Friday night ? What type of place is it ?.... Brennan & Carr has some real good roast beef.

BrooklynQ
01-29-2006, 08:46 PM
Vinny,
It's a fund raiser for the sports program at the parish. It will be held in the gym on Saturday Feb 18th. I hope I didn't mis-type it originally.

It's $5 all you can drink and eat. The only food the program provides is the roast beef sandwiches, which are made by Bassett Catererererererers. I think they'r ebetter than Brendon & Carr. People bring chips, salads etc if they want them. Also, last year I put out a bowl of Texoma nuts for the folks. Last year we had about 250 people and went thru 8 kegs and 5 cases of 1/2 gallon wine.

Parking is available on the parish grounds. It would be great if you guys wanted to do it, but believe me I understand the distance issue.

forget the distance issue can they handle the brethren

If we go to Brooklyn could I drive with someone that maybe a bit closer? It would be a 75 mile drive for me from exit 70 on the LIE. I could drive to your place.

We still need to confirm a date and place.

MilitantSquatter
02-04-2006, 09:56 PM
My preference is still for Hooters on a Saturday night (either the 18th or 25th).

If the group chooses elsewhere, that's fine by me. I'm not picky. What I like about Hooters (aside from the nice view) is that's it's pretty casual, not too noisy etc. and that there's a big enough table to sit at if the group is more than a few of us.

18th looks mighty good from here...name the place, i'm good with it..

The Hooters in East Meadow is fine with me, I'll ride with someone if we are going to brooklyn. Even the Hooters out east is fine with me. Goin to Brooklyn solo scarses me. I've only been on the island almost 10 years havent explored much at all. Gees, my wife has been here all her life and she hasn't explored much either.

MilitantSquatter
02-07-2006, 08:52 PM
OK... I think Phil's gonna need to take the lead role again...

BQ can't make the 18th...no one appears to have a problem with the 25th as best as I recall from the previous posts...(Barfly did not fully clarify if the 25th was bad)...

How about Sat. the 25th @ Hooters ? 7-8 PM start time...???

Smoker
02-07-2006, 10:37 PM
25th is good for me. Poobah????

BrooklynQ
02-07-2006, 11:04 PM
Guess I wasn't clear - I'm busy the 18th because I'll be at the Beef & Beer/Night at the races in Brooklyn. $5 all you can drink and eat.

BBQchef33
02-08-2006, 07:52 AM
25 is good for me. Hooters is fine(always good for me being its petty local). OK with Brooklyn too if it still on the table.
Theres is also a Dave and Busters down at exit 56 and I think one at 49 also. But they don't have Hooters breasts and wings. We all know, the breasts are served between 2 buns which are always fresh.

My personal vote? Hooters, then Dave and Busters(sorry BQ, not a race fan).

I think it would be great to do something that crosses over the border and into the city sometime-- I've got no wheels. Other than that, Phil is a fine photographer. Good eye.

OK...so far I don't see anyone complaining about the Sat. 25th @ Hooters (Islandia) 7-8PM start... Looks like 5 confirmed so far....

Willm BQ, Bobberqueer - can you guys make it ? Anyone else coming ?

Backyardchef - not sure where you are in the city, but the LIRR runs to the Ronkonkama station which is 5 minutes away from the Hooters right off the LIE.

Ideally I'd like to nail down the agreed date this week. I told my wife I'm working around the bar bash schedule...but will let her know sooner than later to confirm as she wants to make some plans to visit family/friends.)
