Did some chicken practice tonite. Sauce was my variable. Below are two pics. Which one looks the best to you?

02-25-2013, 11:05 PM
The top one, color looks better to me, less heavy as well.

02-25-2013, 11:24 PM
I like the center one. Sauce on the right looks to thick to me. Sauce on the left looks a bit dark.

02-25-2013, 11:32 PM
The sauce differs between the two pics. The 3 at the top have the same sauce. The 3 at the bottom have a different sauce

02-25-2013, 11:35 PM
I like the bottom one.

To me that looks like the difference between single- and double-dipped.

There are judges that will ding you for sauce as heavy-appearing as the bottom set.

my bad. When I looked the first time there was only one photo showing.

I see em both now. Top wins in my eye. But, apparently my eyes see differences where there aren't any

I like the top one, bottom looks heavily sauced

02-26-2013, 02:31 AM
+ 1 on the top pic.....

02-26-2013, 05:40 AM
Top photo. Bottom appears over sauced.

+1 for the top. Very nice.

02-26-2013, 07:05 AM
I'm going with the top photo.

Top one. Not a fan of the heavy sauce.

02-26-2013, 09:14 AM
Top, but what the hell do I know?

Out of the pics I like the top. Do you sauce that way for comp turn in or do you put it bak on the smoker to set more??

I would be curious as to which you liked better. The top one looks better to me as far as the sauce. The bottom ones look more uniform, and more "manufactured perfect", if that makes sense. Did you use a different technique in preparing them, other than the sauce?

02-26-2013, 09:57 AM
Both are too dark and over sauced for me but would go with top if I had to choose. I like a thinner, lighter sauce on chicken. Here's a plate I cooked the day before yesterday.

They were both cooked the same way at the same time. The bottom sauce was thicker, smokier mostly mild with a little kick on the back end. The top one was thinner but popped as soon as you bit it. Mrs. Mista and I both liked the top one also.

Top one.

Mrs. Mistake? lol

+1 for the top one!

Going against the grain--bottom. Perhaps because of the angle they look better trimmed. I also like the slightly darker color. Both look great really.

Sauce of top, shape of bottom.

Hmmm . . . I like the overall appearance of the bottom ones. They are better trimmed and more uniform. But I don't like how the sauce looks thick and shellacked. I like the top one because you can see the seasoning under the sauce and the sauce looks more appetizing. If you trimmed the top ones more uniform I would definitely vote top.

I like the top...they look like "REAL" pieces of chicken, and a little less sauce means I get less garnish sticking to the piece.

02-26-2013, 05:38 PM
+1 on the top pic. The bottom looks dark and thicker sauce.

02-26-2013, 06:00 PM
I'd rather eat the top ones, but the bottom ones are prettier and much more uniform

02-26-2013, 06:39 PM
Top 1, dont want to cover the flavor with too much sauce.

02-27-2013, 01:22 PM
I think the top one is the winner. It had the better flavor in our opinion but our opinion means squat. Just have to hope the judges like it.

I been saying that for years BigmMista, it is repeated over and over in the OT

02-28-2013, 09:44 AM
I liked the middle, sauce-wise, but the left one for shape.

02-28-2013, 10:00 AM
I like the top one, the bottom one has a color that is a little to dark for my liking.

02-28-2013, 03:54 PM
Top pic, like everyone else it looks lighter on the sauce, I do not always sauce my chickens but when I do I go light on them.
