Can anyone explain to me the thought process behind the 2 cooks on the same weekend thing that happens out west?

You basically never see that sort of thing in the south, but it seems to be fairly common out west.

I kind of like the idea, but wonder why contests are doing that.

The dual contests are almost always over a 3 day weekend and teams can rack up 2x the KCBS points in 1 weekend of competing. It's a cost effective way for the serious teams to travel to other locales and potentially double up on points for the KCBS TOY race. Clearly, it worked out really well for Truebud this weekend....nice work.

I understand why a team would go. I just wonder why someone would organize such a contest. Is it in the hopes of drawing the big travel teams? Really just curious and this probably isnt the thread for it. Congrats to Truebud. great weekend.

I competed in it this weekend and it was a great time. Lots of big name teams out there as well.

My guess would be it is more beneficial to the organizer. They can split the prize fund and still charge cooks twice for entries. Cost relatively remains the same.
