Since there is going to be a gathering in Central Tx. Feb. 11 how about one in the DFW area. Long list of farkers that are close enough to make it.

If we did something on a Sat. North Main BBQ in Euless is open. That would probably allow Arlin and them Okie farkers the time to make the trip, and it's centrally located in the metromess. It's also AYCE ($12/plate) and BYOB (meaning coolers and cheaper beer:!: ).

Any of you farkers interested?

When more folks chime in we can look at schedules and find something that accomodates as many people as possible. Location doesn't have to be N. Main either. If there's more folks coming from your side of town then it makes sense to do it there.

Been eyeing a place in N. Lewisville on the West side of 35. Passed it on the way to Rudy's in Denton. They have a holestein pig smoker out front cookin' away. Little place I have to try. Any N. TX guys ever been there?

Also need to try this place in Lewisville:

Sure. That's Hickory Creek BBQ or something like that. We always just called it "The Pig". I use to live there in Lake Dallas. Ate there lots and lots. Favorite was the stuffed potato. It had enough bbq on it that I would spoon 1/2 of it off and make a couple of sandwiches the next day! BBQ quality? I'd be afraid to make an opinion to you guys with your superior pallets (since I'm an extreme rookie at this). I sure never complained! Definitely one of the places where I earned my Captain's license.

Jorge does exist (thanks for the Texas pepper rack). Great place to meet, real fine food (all ya can eat, plus sides and ice tea) for $12 even. BYOB and various brews were consumed and traded. Arlin helped the TX economy by buying all kinds of beer and some sauce. Ty gifted everybody with a bottle of Spiceitup! Jalapeno Ketchup. I had a farking excellent time today, brothers! And the pix came out great. That armadillo smoker was...COMPLETELY anatomically correct. I won't go into detail about the conversation AFTER brdbbq...er...made sure the drain cap was on tight, but it had something to do with silicone sealant!!

Miles driven to have lunch with seven Brethren: 444
Gas used: 18.6 gallons
Beer liberated from the great state of Texas: $128 worth
Q consumed: 3 plates at a cost of $12
The experience: PRICELESS!

Oh, and the teeth on the roll of paper towels? As my daughter would say:

"Like, EEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!"

Arlin, that sums it up nicely. It is aways great to put the names with the faces (and teeth). Jorge, thanks for bringing the Texas pepper rack. Thanks also to Ty for the bottle of Spiceitup! Good times! It was great to meat everybody and put faces and voices with the posts. While they were well behaved I'd like to warn you all that should you get BRD, FatDad, and pzbbq together with a keg you need to roll the video:shock:

I left with some jalapeno jelly from Frognot that I'm looking forward to using with some babybacks soon! Thanks! He's a funny farker, that you need to keep an eye on. When he was talking I made sure I didn't have any tea in my mouth to avoid spraying the other brothers there.

Ty came prepared with the ketchup, that I tried last night with some fries when I dropped a basket of fries at 10:30 when I had a craving! Good stuff! Thanks!

That brings me to Arlin... I had to run to the grocery store Sat. morning and glanced at the parking lot at Hall's ( the beer and everything else place) on my way by and saw the Oklahoma plates. I started to go in and give him a hard time....but didn't want to pick the wrong victim. When I was on the way home he was still in there! He's an Okie we can allow back across the border any time.

Grumpy, isn't. Great guy. Looking forward to grabbing some more Q when he's in the neighborhood!

As for the armadillo and BRD.....don't ask about the tater salad....

Meeting new friends and seeing old ones was the highlight of my weekend. Thanks guys!

Guys! I know I don't have a dog in this hunt, but being a Texan in the Mission Field of Tennessee... Tioga is a small town north of Denton and in the book Legends of TX Barbecue Cookbook , Clark's Outpost at 101 Highway 377 is suppose to be one of the best BBQ joints in that area. I lived in Gainesville for a while and hunted for several years in Montague county and never heard of this place before I read about it in the book. However, everyone was tossing out names so I thought I would do one as well.. Wish I could go.. Frognot said the last bash was fun... Pics looked like y'all had a good time...

Anyways, just thought I would toss out a joint in the general area that this book says is suppose to be one of the best in the state... If anyone ever been to this joint let me know... I would like to hear...

Went to Clark's Outpost about 15 years ago while fishing Lake Ray Roberts. Kinda forgot about it. Just off 377 a li'l north of the lake. Was good but went there for lunch after fishing all morning so any place with large quantities of iced tean and air conditioning was gonna be good to me. Need a current field trip to give a real evaluation.

Here's their site:

Farking strange trays for sure, and I'm sorry I had to miss this one.

Sort of like the crates they use fo 20oz soft drinks. Much like bread trays, just smaller. The meats get cut and thrown on butcher paper. Then they line the trays with 2-3 layers of butcher paper, and load them up.
