I've lurked here for a while, enjoyed the atmosphere and signed up today. I cut my teeth on South Texas barbecue off a backyard stick burner and have now settled down with a couple of ceramics and a few other toys. I still lean toward the more traditional lo-n-slo cooks using simple rubs, basting liquids and sauce, for the benefit of other folks, served on the side. Iím also into smoking fish and making sausage. I cruise several other Q forums and enjoy learning new techniques and fine tuning my cooking. The format over here is a little fancier than I'm used to, hope I can figger it all out.

Thanks to EVERYONE for the kind words and all the welcome posts!

Bigdog, I learned a long time ago that sharing information and cookin' extra Q for friends are just two parts of the central code of barbecue. I enjoy updating my site from time to time.

Charlie, Ready to talk sausage anytime. Here is a 25# batch I made for Christmas presents. (Also made some tamales & pastramis too)

I live in Casper.

My wife and I came within a heartbeat of moving to Casper in 1978.
I loved it, she was ?????
Job offer did not turn out.

We will never forget a lake--I think it was just south of town.
Rocky shore and water so "crystal clear" you could see forever into it.

Great country for those so inclined.

Memories

Tim,

That would be Alcova or Pathfinder, both along the Platte River and the Mormon/Oregon Trail. In another month or so the water gets really hard and will look like this. Maybe that was why the wife was not so sure about Wyoming. LOL

Not to hi-jack your year old thread ....

Karen was being considered for a "Claims Representative" position (In-Office worker).
I was being considered for a "Field Representative" position.
As a field rep, I travel the whole area and service external workload--pretty obvious.
Field Reps were re-embursed for mileage and per diem as required.

I was told I needed to provide a 4 Wheel Drive vehicle with a wench on the front bumper.
I thought it was an interesting challenge.
Karen thought it was a "show stopper"

Beautiful country though and a real part of Americana.

Yeah...I'm sure Mrs. thirdeye wouldn't go for a bumper wench either. Now a bumper winch...that's a different story.
