I should be hitting the Biloxi and Gulfport area by Friday night. I will be there for about 1 week. I am not asking about Q joints there as my people that are already there know that few if any places are open yet.

Who do we have that lives in the area? I know we have someone that was at the base there, but I think he said he got relocated. Anyone else down that way? Would be nice to hook up for a little bit. I will be fairly comsumed with paperwork so will only have small windows here and there. We are staying in a temporary camper town set up by our customer. I think they have plumbed out the area for water and sewer and set us up with high speed wireless and the lot.

anyhoo, anybody live in the area?

I coulda swore someone here said they were stationed at Keesler base there, but it coulda been Chad, Jorge, Kapn, or countless others that mighta mentioned it as passed tense (as in served there).

Have a safe trip Greg

Bill,
Brother Rob (Hafast) was at Kessler. He apparently is at Hill AFB in Utah now.
Greg- check your PM's.

Yep, that was it kapn, Hafast.

Knew I saw it in someones profile.

And if I mispelled it, blame Mapquest. They spelled it with double e versus s.

You coming through Memphis on your way down there, Greg? Or do you go another way?

Greg,
I know you'll be bringing some food and essentials in, but save time to hit the casino that just opened back up in Biloxi, stop at the local market and pick up a few things, even if just snacks for the guys. You see a small mom and pop open, go buy some TP or something.

Your "outside" money is desperately needed there.

Hell, head into the local tavern, make sure it's full of locals, and buy a round or two for the house.

Then send me half the bill.

Those folks are gonna need assistance for years

"Hell, head into the local tavern, make sure it's full of locals, and buy a round or two for the house.

Now that, folks, is a Brother!
I would take the other half, but I have a different plan here.

Not sure if they reopened, but The Shed in Ocean Springs is awsome. They were open after Katrina, but I think they closed for a while to give employees a paid month off. Not sure if reopened. I think the reopen the 11th.

Drove through Mississippi just before Christmas on my way to Ft. Benning. I couldn't beleive how torn up everything was and how little work had begun to repair that state.

The larger picture toward the middle is where a condo stood that my ex's sister owned and I have stayed at. They sold it 6 months before the hurricane hit.

Here's one more good one of the causeway that is right next to it.

looks like that all over the coast there. My wife's grandmother only lived 3 blocks off the beach. The beach was lined by old victorian style homes. Was a beautiful place.

Hey, parrothead, sorry I missed you down there. You don't really understand the scope of the destruction until you see it in person, do you? Anyway, hope all is going well for you down there. The Shed is open, probably the best place to go for 'q down there. If you're looking for the best pizza, check out the Mellow Mushroom in Ocean Springs. If you have any other questions about the area, just PM me, I'll try to remember to check in more often.

Yep! Sorry I missed you also.

Tim (kapndsl) just left. He came here a few hours ago with pulled pork, brisket, a pot of beans, potato salad, chips, dips and some sauce. Oh, and a couple of fatties. Anyway, he brought enough yummy Q to feed the part of my crew that was here at lunch time and there are plenty of left overs to feed more of the crew when they get back in later.

Can't thank you enough for taking the time to cook all day yesterday and driving here today to do this for us. Top notch grub from a top notch brother.

As always, it's nice to meat a brother. Drive home safe.

You're a class act Tim.

Greg, be careful down there. It looks pretty bad down there, and I'd be leery of any building still standing.

Wow

Great little day trip.
Even TinkerBelle seemed to enjoy it.
The Crew should have at least some snacks this week from the left-overs.
Nice guys--working hard!

Always great to finally meet a Brother. Thanks for the hospitality Greg.

Left overs are about gone. Guys started coming in from their day and saw the spread and just gobbled it up.

Thanks again from all of the guys!

When did you change your name to "the Kapn"? I gotta spend more time here.

Oh well, I will crank up the StudeDera next time! More capacity. Need more warming oven capacity though--RV ovens suck

The new moniker was a New Year's present from Phil. Long story behind it.

Glad the guys are well fed, at least for now.

I nominate Tim as Brother of the Year. What a nice thing to do. And he did it for a good guy. Greg is one hell of great brother too. Best host of the Midwest Bash Award.
