Rob (Smokejumper) is headed to Greensboro for a few days, he is looking for BBQ references while in hog BBQ Mecca. Any recommendations? Brethren in the area? N.C. Meet-up?

The originator of NC BBQ (the western version) is located in Greensboro. Stamey's BBQ (http://www.stameys.com/)

However Greensboro is located in what is known as the Triad. The Triad consists of 3 cities; Winston-Salem, Greensboro & High Point.

In the Triad itself there are a LOT of great BBQ restaurants.

Hill's Lexington BBQ (Winston-Salem)
Little Richard's BBQ (http://eatmopig.com/) (Winston-Salem)
Short Sugar's BBQ (http://shortsugarsbar-b-q.com/) (Reidsville - just North of G-Boro)
Prissy Polly's Pig-Pickin BBQ (http://www.prissypollys.com/) (Kernersville)

Less than an hour away is Lexington, NC - Where there is more BBQ places per capita than anywhere else in the Carolinas.
Let Rob knows if he gets down to Lexington to go find Cook's BBQ - hard to find, but one of the best. Another good one in Lexington is Speedy's BBQ or The Barbecue Center (better than Lexington # 1)

Avoid the tourist joints and the franchise bbq joints:
Shane's Rib Shack, Sticky Fingers, Smokey Bones,

When's he going? I'm in Reno this week, I'll be in Raleigh for a day next week, but I'm usually there every other week or so. I could treat him to some good bluegrass and bbq. :becky:

Stamey's BBQ, why he needed the second order of hush puppies, I have no idea. He is there now. With his team, including three very hot furniture buyers.

Well, looks like I'm going to be missing him then. That's too bad. If you had the hushpuppies, you wouldn't need to ask why he needs a second order. :becky:
