Hi Everyone,

Been meaning to introduce myself for a while but seem to be too preoccupied reading BBQ board posts to get around to type an intro.

I'm Joe, and I've been hot smoking and barbecuing off and on for 30+ years. Started with an ECB I got as a present from my parents back in my teens. Along the way interest waned in the ECB as other hobbies came around. Like pistol competitions-Very time consuming. About 12 years ago I moved to a new house with enough room for something larger. Shortly afterwards I had a New Braunfels offset and interest renewed for a few years. Later an OK Joe vertical roasting oven replaced the NB offset. The ECB and the NB got donated to deer camp where they've served well. Again interest waned after a while because a partnership in a business took up too much weekend time. Then earlier this year while googling info on garam masala I ran across RandyQ's BBQ site, discovered internet BBQ forums, and got interested in BBQ again. I've been busy learning ever since. Then I found a NB OK Joe Longhorn at Academy Sports. After taking some measurements on the roasting oven and the Longhorn I wound up buying the Longhorn.

Now, forgive me for the next part guys.

I took a torch to the roasting oven and the longhorn to create this.
It's been my project most of the year. Thanks to this site and others there's been a lot of trials and experiments but not many errors.

Got an e-mail from a guy the other day asking about my pit and in those conversations he asked what I had cooked and what was my favorite. Didn't realize until then just how much food has gone thru the pit this year.
BTW, pork ribs are my favorite and I don't care if they're BB's or KC trimmed spares.

Hope I can help in some way, since y'all have helped me so much.

Thanks, to all of you.

Welcome. Great looking pit. The first picture, at first glance, made it look like the shed was part of the pit! Now would be a hell of a pit!

Ya never know until you try it. I bet you could as long as it had a concrete floor.
