Minutes after posting this, my Sponsor "Maverick" forwarded me this email from Jim Sharp the General Manager at the Livestock Expo.


We received a lot of similar feedback after that particular year. We have since set up a tent near the teams and are judging outside the building away from the animals. It worked out very well last year and the set-up will be the same again this year. The teams and judges were very satisfied with the adjustment that we made. Please consider participating again this year. We would love to have you back.

We did this last year....and I know there was a tent outside the expo hall.

Believe me, the restroom was my 2nd home last year....I saw the inside of that building far too many times. My guys thought I was riding a horse around all weekend.

We'll be there again this year. It was a great weekend (aside from the stomach issues)!

just added a beer tent and blues bands for saturday.

Sal, do we still have time to send in entry? Kinda slept on this, but we've planned to do it again after a great experience (apart from our results) last year. Hoping to also bring a number of friends and family as its quite close to home for us. I gotta get my head out of the Gator!

We're in! This is our first year doing this contest. All of the fall conflicts with kids are gone now. Looking forward to it.

as of last week I think 20, this is when the entrys start comming in, we are hoping for 60+ this year.

Wish they would post the rules for the ancillary entries on their website. They provide all the meat. I just need to know what all the rules are.

A little more info as we get closer.

the ancillary catagories..
the meat is provided free of charge.
ground beef youll get 2 pounds
Best Legs in town you will get and need to turn in 12 legs
eggs will be provided for the desert catagorie

the turn ins will be on a 16"'x 12" provided tray with open garnish, standard cooking methods apply (wood,charcoal and pellets)

This year there will be blues bands on Saturday and a beer tent on both Friday and Saturday.

we are all most full with just a couple of spots left and the time is now if you are on the fence.

I want to say thanks to Stubbs,Pork Barrel BBQ and Fab for their contributions to the " goddie bags" and hope to have some other really cool rubs and sauces on there way as well as pins, treats and other stuff. If any brethren would like to provide samples for 60 bags please pm me.

someone once told me the key to ribs was using 3 Eyz bbq rub and cooking them properly...still tring to figure out the "cooking properly" part but the other is a lock for sure!

We've always enjoyed this event. Wouldn't miss it! Although some may say it's foolish, we even enjoy cooking ALL the ancillary categories. Sal, make sure the whether is cool enough so we can keep the fire pit going all weekend!

In the years past the bologna has been the 'sweet' bologna. I'm no expert on this prized meat ... but is it safe to assume the Lebanon this year will be 'sweet' as well?

I was told it was going to be Regular lebanon bologna. The sponser supplies it so it actually could go either way. Just depends on what they send, I dont see a big difference in the 2.

We emailed them Monday and asked about arriving thursday and departing Sunday morning and they just wanted to know what time we'd be arriving. They are very easy to work with.
