OK, belong to lots of forums but as a newbie here, will introduce myself.

Scott from Shokan, NY, about 90 miles north, in the heart of the Catskill mountains.

Learned smoking from a Georgia friend over several years and trips down. He has an older Bandera model. I purchased a chargrill offset, used for the last 2-3 years. Quickly out growing it.

Mostly doing ribs, pork butt's. Getting pretty good at it, all the neighbors are hooked :)

So...if not cooking, love kayak fishing, really love it. Work in medicine. S

and a joke, as another site I belong to demands....

So two blondes are at the beach in Maine, after a long day they sit and watch the moon rise over the ocean in a beautifully still and clear night. One blonde turns to the other, sighs and says, "It's beautiful here. I've been thinking, which do you suppose is closer, Florida or the moon."

The other blonde thinks not even a second and responds, "duh....can you see florida from here???"

Thanks folks, Going to spend sometime on this rainy weekend to catch up on past postings. Gotta lot to learn. Does anyone know of any smoke competitions here in the northeast? Not to compete in, but to go see the competition. S

Welcome to the neighborhood.

The competition season is pretty much finished up in your area.

Check www.nebs.org (http://www.nebs.org/) for a pretty good look at the schedule for next year.

Or, come to FL - we compete year round!

Actually yak fishing is very easy, they'll take just about anything. It's the trips back and forth to Nepal that are killing me. Those Sherpa's look cute, but what a surly group of individuals they are. And the freaking union....our dock workers got nothing on those guys!!! :):)
